  • It's the hype thing to do right now for web browsers, and Firefox is already way behind. I know it may be hard to believe if you only browse Lemmy (like myself), but the average person actually likes these so-called "AI" tools or at least a significant amount of them do.

So Firefox needs to try and attract more normies from chrome, a lot of these "normal" people would be more likely to switch for that 'one killer ai feature".

Also imo we should all be ready to switch to Ladybird when the first version comes out, I know I'll be running the Alpha. If you don't know Ladybird is a brand new browser written from the ground up, it's also open source. https://ladybird.org/

  • Honestly, no clue. Probably not. You're right, they have a big obstacle in the way of becoming profitable if they aren't because they only operate in certain areas they have a lot of training data for.

  • Obviously, no LLM is PhD level right now. What Altman and all the other techno-fascist hype bros are hyping up is the thought that once enough money and resources have been expended on developing these tools, a critical threshold will be passed and they will suddenly be super genius LLM.

Of course the only way to get to this super genius LLM is giving Altman and the other techno bros impossible amounts of money and resources. Because trust me bro, they got it, don't worry about all the eggs in their baskets and give them more.

Really good video on the topic a more perfect union just posted

  • Waymo self driving cars are very good imo, I live near a location where they operate and drive along side them daily on my way to work and have ridden in one twice. They are way better than human drives in my area.

  • iptorrents, it's a bit of a scummy private tracker but you can donate a few bucks to get in and they have pretty much everything. It's a good first in for private trackers. Keep in mind with private trackers, you typically need to seed whatever you download for at least 14 days.

  • I find dogs shed significantly more than cats in general.

  • Russian's military has just as many and likely significantly more Nazis than Ukraine's. So shouldn't you support neither side?

Or is it the Russian Nazis are okay right now because they are fighting against the Western Nazis?

  • I did 500ug once and had a very unpleasant experience, although some skilled psychonauts take 1 or even 2 milligram (2000ug) and enjoy the experience.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. That looks like a pretty cool option.

  • You're going to have to stop using all software in the next five years or so if you want to keep up the LLM boycott.

  • That's really got to be one of the saddest things among many sad things about not having money in this world, I'd cry so much if I had to get rid of my cats for financial reasons, I'm sorry

  • The problem is that many people don't understand this no matter how often we bring it up. I personally find LLMs to be very valuable tools when used in the right context. But yeah, the majority of people who utilize these models don't understand what they are or why they shouldn't really trust them or take critical advice from them.

I didn't read this article, but there's also the fact that some people want biased or incorrect information from the models. They just want them to agree with them. Like, for instance, this teen who killed themself may not have been seeking truthful or helpful information in the first place, but instead just wanted to agree with them and help them plan the best way to die.

Of course, OpenAI probably should have detected this and stopped interacting with this individual.

  • They said they aren't going to announce the price until closer to launch, so just chill. They only announced the product so they could get developers working on game support early.

  • It's good for people who are use to windows and aren't comfortable with linux yet, it was the first distro I used when I switched to Linux but now I've been on Fedora for the past four years or so

  • I've never even fucking heard of the pie that is apparently the most popular in my state. I call bullshit.

  • Last I heard, which I don't have any sources for so could be completely wrong for all I know, but some of the big LLM providers do make enough money off of their users to pay for inference and infrastructure. And the only reason they aren't profitable is because of the insane amount of money they spend on developing new models.

  • I get your hate, but there would be significant turmoil in the world if the largest and most advanced GPU provider disappeared. So you're sorta lying.

Scientific advances would slow and engineering tasks would also suffer from the lack of capability to run simulations. Eventually, AMD and Intel would pick up the slack and the world would start doing well again.

  • Mine can vary wildly depending on what kind and the quantity of psychoactive substance I've taken.
