  • To be fair (pun intended) very, very few people ever use the USB-C port for anything other than charging and maybe syncing photos to a pc.

The connector itself costs like 8 bucks, I don't know how much more expensive it would be for them to design the signal integrity in their motherboard, required to carry the video stream.

Still, for the price and for the market segment they're targeting, this and the lack of a 3.5mm jack for sound is inexcusable.

  • The "I" here is meant to represent the average consumer, who will die never knowing what lemmy is or what a torrent is.

I am on the team, but it's a very, very small team and it'll remain that way until there's money to be made or a cataclysmic systemic revolution brings order to corporate chaos.

You can't fix capitalism with Linux and tor, you need guillotines for that.

  • Newsom has been making some noise lately, he's running for president next for sure

  • Netanyahu is leading in the latest polls from what I read by a relatively comfortable margin, so I don't think he's feeling much pressure from within to stop before annexing parts of Gaza at the very least. Israelis are being taught to hate their neighbors with a passion all their lives and the genocide is justified in their eyes.

Exactly one lifetime since their own relatives were treated the same way. Rinse and repeat every few decades.

  • You mean like the Nintendo Switch 2, or any iPhone ever, both of which you can only use if the manufacturer allows you to?

Nobody reads the fine print on anything. I don't own my phone, my movies, my music, my gaming console, my games, my car, nothing at all and yet I've payed for access to all of the above.

    Welcome to terminal stage capitalism.

  • Next up: Using eye tracking the ads will now not finish playing unless you look directly at them. Overriding this feature will result in your device being locked for one day per violation

  • You wouldn't download more ponies...

  • You could make "glasses" out of wood or bone with thin slits using the same idea

  • Some glass is many sheets glued together, that could be trickier to work with

Thick glass that's not tempered will be the easiest to work with

Pretty much any piece of glass and a series of sandpapers going from low to high grit will eventually work if you know what you're doing

  • Inb4 the Israeli government cries "blatant antisemitism"

  • I was once fired from a helpdesk job because a security guy overheard me summarizing a Kevin Mitnick book to a coworker, thought I was planing to do what I was explaining and notified my supervisor, who informed his supervisor and so on until it went all the way to the fucking CEO and back.

I was summoned to HR the next day and I had to explain in writing to 5 different people that they're all idiots and show them the book I was referring to.

I applied for a different position in the same company 3 months later and was hired for another 8 months.

  • I mean, he explained what and why is garbage and he's not wrong, so it's a valuable lesson at least.

  • Eh most new tech is initially used in military and enterprise applications before trickling down to the consumer space

  • Honestly nowadays data plans are cheap on most mobile carriers and they're obligated to have them work accross EU, so you no longer really need Wi-Fi when traveling.

Also, I can see this being easily and constantly exploited via Wi-Fi attacks where hackers set up fake Hotspots with the same name as the closest legit one.

  • Plenty of grafity all over Greece I've seen lately with phrases like "all IDF soldiers are murderers" and "Zionists not welcome" and "Israel is a terrorist state" etc. I and basically all Greeks agree with those. I suspect the butthurt reaction from the Israeli envoy will only increase sales of spray paint in Athens

  • I do believe that PASOK's tone would be different if they were currently the ruling party, because they'd have more to lose, and that ND, the current ruling party, would be more critical of Israel to gain points. However, this guy seems genuine enough from what I read, and by that I mean ND aligned media scolded him heavily for what he said, so he must be doing something right to piss them off.

  • Let me give you some perspective here.

First of all I wanna say I agree with the guy.

He's trying to run for leader of Greece's PASOK party, projected to be second in polls right now.

He is however not in the party currently running the government, which has been elected with the widest victory in recent decades. The ruling party stands firm on the side of Israel and will beg forgiveness for the mayor's statement, strongly condemning it.

The people, however, are with Gaza.

So the Greek government is mostly pro-Israel, despite this guy making strong statements and his party backing him up, it's mostly to posture against the current ruling party to gain in polls and for the mayor to gain more support in his bid to become the second party's leader.
