  • CEO of our company asked me for help with his computer, opened Outlook, and I saw in the search results he searched for "sex." He was sitting right next to me.

  • Sorry for the really late reply, no I am not in enterprise IT. I did this solely to help the community use Libreboot more, I want to see it become mainstream. I also was just planning on reselling most of these models, but I haven't got to it yet.

  • Meh, I mean, Arch includes non-free software as well, so as a Trisquel user, you are all dead to me.

  • Libreboot.

I provided testing and funding (not as a developer) for computers like the 9020, 9010, 7010, and 780 OptiPlex, as well as the E4300 Latitude and T1700 Precision. All it takes is some collaboration with others in the community to make it possible!

  • It's been here for a while, smart phones were basically the nail in the coffin. Switching to GNU/Linux is not enough, there are proprietary backdoors in your BIOS firmware. Nearly everything we buy is bugged by default. Laws need to be in place and the education system needs to be required to teach about libre software. If we don't do this, all hope is lost for privacy in the future.

  • I'm concerned because there are a lot of employees that are using this one program and I'm worried about them accidentally installing something down the line. Thanks for your response btw.

  • I did use procmon and saw that it was creating/closing a file in the C: directory. I gave access to the other folders it was trying to access (e.g. C:\Users\Public\CameraSoftware) but it's still asking for admin privelleges. I tried doing the Task Scheduler method as well, did not work for me unfortunaely. Thanks for your response btw!

  • Fighting tryanny with tryanny isn't the answer.

  • Then the main question would be, do you care about using proprietary software or not?

  • I figured out how to use virt-manager when I was 15 years old, it's not as hard as it seems.

  • I dislike the way you type.

  • I work in IT, and we recently hired a new "Engineer" at my company. I noticed on the form that he claimed to have extensive knowledge of Python, so I decided to meet him. The first question I asked was what IDE he uses, and he replied, "Anaconda." Before I knew it, he was referring to the entire computer as a "CPU" and struggled to solve simple issues on Windows. To top it off, he makes 30% more than I do.

(I work as a Level 1 Service Technician, and my boss is aware that I have experience with coreboot and GNU/Linux. I just got approval to bring my own setup with it installed. Although we work in a Windows environment, I can make it work.

I also funded and helped test a bunch of hardware for coreboot, with guidance from friends I have who are experienced in the field. However, I only make $55k per year, I'm hoping I can get a nice raise. It's just my boss and I as the two IT guys, so maybe there is potential.)
