  • Fuck Musk and everything, but Xitter has traditionally been a very powerful tool for the masses in impoverished countries to get the word out.

I know Brazil isn't exactly a 3rd world country, but it's not exactly the most stable of governments, either. They just recently had a Jan 6th kind of coup attempt when bolsonaros lost.

I hesitate to consider this a net good, despite hating Musk.

  • And wanting to eat the same thing for a week+ because making it in quantities that's worth the time means that's taking a lot of fridge / freezer space

  • And without giving the Dems a majority on both houses, let alone the super majority that's actually needed for fundamental changes!

  • And I doubt many of those who left are reevaluating the ethos imparted by the leaders they now are distancing themselves from.

  • Or like the golden age of instant messengers, where you had multiple choices of multi-client apps like Trillian.

You still had individual accounts for each IM platform, but a single app to chat on any platform.

  • Even if he sold at $1 a share, he's going to get far more than its worth out of it.

  • That's a pretty weird rant on EVs.

The carpool lanes were very under utilized. Hybrids and later EVs were also slow to be adopted, and the state wanted this adoption accelerated due to air quality and just general environmental consciousness.

So the state decided to add the carpool benefit, which solved two problems.

Now that EVs are far more abundant, that policy is getting revisited. Which is fair, because the carpool lane can only support so many before it just gets clogged like the main road. And people don't necessarily need the encouragement to get EVs anymore.

    Nothing is permanent.

  • But you're in the fart zone.

The whole bus looks like it'd be pretty smelly, to be fair. But sandwiched between Trump and Alex Jones...

  • When carplay works, it's great. But mine constantly has issues connecting to phones. Both my wife's iPhone, and my Android. Both are flagships that are a couple years old, so still very current and sufficient specs.

Meanwhile, my old aftermarket Bluetooth radio connects every time with no issue.

I do like the convenience of GPS and audio on the car tablet when it works. But honestly, it's a distraction when it's being fussy.

  • The credit card fee is the only one I don't mind. CC fees siphon a lot more money out of what we pay than people think. It's unfair that restaurants/stores have to take that hit because the CC industry has been successful in making credit cards ubiquitous.

All those rewards we get as consumers for using CCs come straight from the vendors pockets, and the banks get a much larger cut of the fees than they "give" back via rewards.

There is no reason why credit card fees need to be so steep in the digital age. And most vendor agreements require that vendors aren't allowed to charge a separate CC fee to cover the cost to them, so they instead have to raise prices on all (cash) customers through a menu price hike.

It's the same kind of bullshit as Apple requiring that app owners are not allowed to sell their app on other platforms for less than their Apple Store price.

  • Actually, it might. I thought mosquitos were attracted to the co2 from our breath. So the masks might help reduce how far they can smell you.

  • We also have to whine about everything. Great job at keeping your end of the online discourse contract.

  • Just for comparsion, that would be like surrendering Alaska, Texas, and California if we needed to surrender 30% of our territory "for peace"

  • She died 2 years later. Assuming she was old and/or in poor health, I can absolutely understand not wanting to move. It's especially stressful for the elderly who may have lived there for decades. And it's not like she could take the money into the afterlife anyway.

  • I have 3.5 cats on the same medication (0.5 cat is shared custody we watch sometimes). Juggling 4 prescriptions is a pain in the ass. Life would be much simpler if we could just get a Costco sized bottle of it and be good for half a year or more. For a medication that is very commonly prescribed for elderly cats.

  • And also because of the ridiculousness of controlled substances, you can't just order ahead for, say, 2 months of buffer that could negate the risk of delays.

Because people can't be trusted with too much medicine. Like everyone's going to OD on cancer drugs or something if they don't ration it out to the day.

  • I did as well, and am very happy to be wrong.

And it seems like Harris' campaign saw those kinds of comments and chose to address them with energy and humor.

They've done a great job so far. Hoping they can keep this amazing momentum and prove me thoroughly wrong on election day.

  • What he means is he's trying to funnel his wealth into assets that aren't regulated and may be difficult to seize.

You know, to hide his money from the victims that he owes hundreds of millions to for his criminal behavior.
