  • It is a multi-faceted issue. Both the customer and the company are victims of Amazon.

It’s not the company’s fault that the diaper was re-sold, so they don’t deserve to have that negative review. It’s true that the review was against Amazon’s policy. Whatever you make of that policy, Amazon should have removed the review when asked.

Meanwhile, it’s not the customer’s fault and you can’t blame them for making such a review.

Ultimately it’s Amazon’s fault for re-selling the diaper and for not removing the review when asked. Both are bad decisions Amazon made. The customer is a victim of one decision, and the company is a victim of the other.

  • It’s quite a nice place for that sort of thing … in the spring when the highs are 80 or maybe 90 at the very worst…

  • What you are looking for here is something from the OG iPod line. There are some guides out there on how to build something similar with a raspberry pi.

  • There are plenty of modern games that deliberately make these kinds of discussions. A handful I’ve played recently with strong political or at least philosophical themes:

    • Helldivers 2
    • Talos Principle (both games)
    • Deus Ex series
    • The Witcher series in general
  • Something you may have missed from one of EatATaco’s earlier comments:

It's not like anyone who look at this and say "well, I can be careless and just bank on the cops fucking up," so the deterrence is already there.

  • The revelation that this level of conspiracy theory crazy is so prominent on what I thought was the side of reason has revoked my last shreds of faith in humanity.

  • What I want in $HOME are the following directories:

    If I’m on a GUI-based environment:

    • Desktop
    • Documents
    • Downloads

    In general:

    • .local
    • my_junk_folder_i_made

I’d like everything else to live within something like ~/.local thanks

  • TAs work 20h and make 15-30k.

That’s time spent teaching. They are also expected to do research with the rest of their time, which is more work.

  • There are some games where going out of your way to avoid resorting to violence is rewarded.

  • Also a competing candidate for dark matter is MACHOs

  • My smart TV does some weird AI frame interpolation. It can be hard to tell in live action content, but it absolutely butchers things like anime. I had to dig through the settings to turn it off but it sometimes decides to turn it back on.

  • I wanted to do an eco-friendly run of factorio but it’s really hard

  • People who say Hades is a great roguelike have only played one.

Oof this one for real. It’s a good game with excellent art style and music, but once I finished a run for the first time I was done. The lure of more story for beating more challenges was not enough for me.

Meanwhile I can’t stop returning to FTL every once in a while, despite having already beat it 100%. I’m more excited for Slay the Spire 2 than Hades 2.

  • My hot take on games like BOTW and TOTK: when the game is so open ended you can invent your own answer, the answer to every puzzle ends up being the same.

In BOTW the answer to every puzzle is “balloon”. In TOTK it’s “big stick”. In Scribblenauts it’s “invincible deadly flying rideable friendly

    <insert your favorite noun here>

”. No, I don’t mean literally every puzzle, but it works often enough that I feel like I’m just wasting time if I try doing things any other way.

The handful of times I’ve actually felt creative in TOTK were when I was just messing around. Creativity is rarely useful in meaningful progression.

More traditional metroidvanias (including traditional Zelda’s) give you bits of “huh I don’t think I can get there now but clearly I’ll have some way to get there later” and “I just got this thing I wonder what I can do with it”. That kind of puzzle solving is completely absent from many newer Zeldas (BOTW, TOTK, ALBW).

  • I hope it’s also important to know how/where to store your loaded handgun so toddlers can’t get to it.

  • There’s a few different styles of experiences:

    The Aether

Adds a dimension in the sky with its own progression of ores, and a system of a progression of dungeons. Lots of new enemies. It has a kinda similar progression to playing vanilla survival minecraft, but it’s harder and the things you have to worry about are very different.

It’s one of the most polished mods out there and is intended for a standalone experience.

Mine & Slash this is a big modpack intended to change the game into a more combat oriented and fantasy themed game.

There are some that are designed to make the progression be a system of automating resource production, similar to games like Factorio or Satisfactory. Create is an example.

Ones like Blightfall are a complete curated experience with a story, a custom map, and a modpack.

  • Minecraft, especially with mods.

Roguelites in general. My favorite is FTL. Also has good mods.

  • They’ll be fine as long as nobody pees on them again
