Huh. This person genuinely seems to think their viewpoints are broadly popular and not near exclusively the territory of divorced, estranged dads who don't know how to talk about their feelings.
I’m no fan of Tankies or the CCP, but I’m really not seeing any more pro-china propaganda than you see elsewhere, mostly excitement as a result of their green tech stuff or HSR (while ignoring why China has a need for HSR)
Someone once told me China has such a robust rail system so that they can move their nations worth of prisoners around. I think this is what this user is implying, but I really don't quite know.
I don't think 2anaon has the same reach and potential as the first. Some cranks who were always gonna watch the spectacle will latch on, but I think most have decided there's nothing for them in federal politics.
The chuds I interact with tend to be pretty checked out and/or baffled by what Trump is doing. One guy in particular (spent the whole Biden admin going "Lol, what a brain-dead moron") has pivoted to "Why's everyone so angry with one another? Why can't we just get along?". Mostly they complain about the state of the economy, but now it's just vaguely all the politicians fault, rather than the Democrats specifically.
There used to be a shelter there! They removed some of the shelters and now we're getting "cost-effective" seating. You know what would've been cost effective? Leaving the fucking shelter.
It was probably one of those Lamar Outdoor Advertising bus shelters. There are still a lot of them being impeccably maintained (for the advertising) along long-discontinued bus routes in Whitehall and Baldwin.
That's the trick to US politics, it doesn't actually matter what position you take so long as its the opposite of whatever opponent is saying. It's most apparent when something new comes onto the stage, and nobody is quite sure how it's gonna be metabolized. When COVID very first seemed like a real concern, Democrats weren't sure if they were for travel restrictions on China for health reasons or against them because it fostered anti-Asian sentiment. They understood how their base would respond to these framing, but they weren't sure which was going to take popular headwinds, so for a short while you got a little of both.
The dog has to choose to be wagged. It's not manufacturing consent, its the public buying into a rational that lets you do whatever it is you were already gonna do.
It'd be cool to be surprised by this, but I kinda think "curing" cancer is nearly a big a fantasy as AGI. What is there to cure? Cells being damaged? Treatment will continue to be refined, sure, but don't expect to ever see a panacea.
Even if you're a liberal, this is poor political messaging. Why are you bringing up other world leaders? It just distracts from the point you want to make;
We want Trump out! Why? He sent ICE and the military into our city, abducted and killed people
Clear and to the point.
This on the other hand is just... what if no bad government everywhere. Nice sounding (if you don't scrutinize all the assumptions and biases), but also unactionable. Empty spectacle, but not even particularly well stage-managed spectacle.
