You obviously don’t hang with many rich people. They are regular people. They aren’t special, they just hit the right set of circumstances. Most of the smartest and hardest working people I know are actually not the richest. Capitalism doesn’t reward intelligence or hard work per se. It rewards accumulation of capital which has much more to do with circumstance, investment, and manipulation.
How do they think these record profits will sustain if they keeps taking every last dime from workers? Oh ya, they don’t think, they are just mindless greedy leeches. They’ll just suck till they get crushed like any other parasite.
The powerful are shit human beings because shit human beings seek power over others for their own gratification. All of human history the worst people have plotted and killed their way to the top. Capitalism tries to harness that greed but it doesn’t work. Systems need to punish our worst natures, not reward them.
IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN USED TO MANIPULATE PEOPLE! That’s all it has ever been. It’s used to hold power over people by preying on their fear of the unknown.
Capitalism doesn’t care about humanity, only profits. Any safeguards self imposed will always fall to profitability in a capitalist system. It’s why regulations and a government people trust are important.
You think restaurants take worker’s labor into consideration when making profitability choices? Look what servers are paid, they clearly don’t value their labor.
EDIT: I was being dramatic to prove a point. Restaurants run skeleton crews all the time to push profitability. Obviously they give it some consideration, but it’s rarely for the workers well being.
It’s about money. People are okay paying way higher margins for alcoholic drinks. They want you drinking alcohol for profits and the inebriating effect makes you more likely to spend loosely.
Behold! The female nipple - the most dangerous topology of she skin - immorality and depravity follow anywhere these brazen bings are witnessed - avert your eyes and pray to be delivered from their trespasses
What exactly does that mean? You have no choice but to use it to also commit fraud since you believe that’s the reason it’s used? In person poling places exist so it seems another choice exists.
Same thing as 100 years ago. Stock market crash, poverty, unions rise, the powerful try to squash it and fail, unions and collective organizing take back a descent middle class life, the next generation(s) who grew up with all those advantages lets it all slip away because they are entitled, rinse repeat. The rich never learn but neither does the lower classes. There is no winning, it’s a constant vigilant battle to keep a standard of living that the working class must learn to maintain. The rich get rich by taking more than they need, that never stops.
Because seeing a nipple is on par with murder. Not to mention society makes all sorts of terrible shit ethical, like billionaires bribing politicians to subvert the will of the people. My point was ethics is a subjective defense at best. Especially when no harm is perpetrated on either party and nipples being required to be covered was not an ethical standard most of human history. Murder would cause harm to the murdered party. Nipple viewing would only harm a child because they have been taught that nipples are “supposed” to be hidden like a dirty secret. Even though all mammals suckle from them in early life. It’s absolutely silly to make a bare chest being exposed such a big “ethical” deal and people should be questioning this like I did. It only exists due to the puritanical religious idealism pushed on society. It has no basis in reality as a detriment to society.
“I’m sure this was killed by bitchy socially conservative sheltering types who freak out about anything that doesn’t fit in their small minded view of morality.”
That’s how it showed up. If you were responding to a different comment, my bad, please disregard my comment. Sometimes the line system in Lemmy is a tad hard to follow.
Edit: realize I misread the line scheme and you weren’t responding to me. Sorry.
