I really like the solutions you proposed. I hope your predictions don't come true, I hope everyone can come together and work to stop what you described.
I understand that. It's not something one person can do alone. It won't be easy. I feel it's kind of like voting if everyone played a small part we could make big changes. For example if I could convince 5 people to volunteer and convince 20 people on the fence or unsure about Trump to be against him that could be a good victory. With those numbers we'd only need about 5% of the population to participate in this.
When you say impossible do you feel that in a literal way or "impossible" like how some people thought it was impossible for Trump to win in 2016?
I agree that reversing the full extent of the damage caused is going to take a long time, in fact I think it will take a long time even if there is a recession/depression. Right now we are going backwards if we could start by changing things so that we are moving forwards even if just a little bit it will open the door for healing which yes will take a long time but is necessary.
That person will likely never change but it doesn't matter. We need to focus most importantly on empowering and mobilizing those who are already against Trump and focusing on those who either don't yet have an opinion on Trump (yes they exist), those who are on the fence about him and make our case. Expand our base.
For people in the don't like Trump category we must teach them how effectively resist him. I think the single most important action is working on building a powerful opposition who will run in local races in 2025 and nationally in 2026. We must work to get as many Democratic votes as possible. Don't sleep on 2025 because depending on where you live there could be judges up for election or election commissioners. It depends on where you live.
My understanding is that people are put on the cover of time magazine not because of how ethical or moral they are but because of how much influence and power they have. So Trump being on the cover on Time magazine doesn't mean they are saying he's a good person.
Note that signing the petition alone likely won't be enough. Please also contact people in your government to help make it happen. X/Twitter is violating EU law and must be banned.
it’s important to redirect negative thoughts and feelings, but you have to do this without jumping to condescending or infantilising language.
So much this! I used to be a Trump supporter myself and I've made some people angry because of my previous political views. I got yelled at for what I said. Even though in hindsight their reaction was somewhat justified all that did was reinforce my views and dig a deeper hole.
