  • There was also the fact that Hogan ratted out the wrestlers attempts to unionise, leading directly to the terrible working conditions that persist to this day... All because he liked being paid the most.

There's a lot more to it, but these examples should begin to paint a picture of the kind of guy he is.

  • The genocide has been a decades-long effort - it's only been undeniable for 11 months.

  • This was obviously Russian fuckery, but looking at any coup globally since WWII, the odds of CIA involvement are pretty goddamn high.

...now that I sound like I belong in hexbear, I'll see myself out.

  • Reasonable, but understanding that doesn't solve for the core "sinister Jewish cabal" narrative, I think it comes down to simple ideological alignment - far-right fascist autocracy with genocidal tendencies. There's not much they disagree on.

  • What issues is the left actually coordinated on? The non-specific "weird" narrative. Access to reproductive healthcare maybe.

Where is there meaningful dissent on the right?

    • It's not the obvious "stolen" election bullshit
    • Even the Nazis are backing Israel
    • They're fighting regulation of firearms
    • They're all pushing for austerity broadly
    • They want to restrict immigration
    • They want to deregulate companies
    • They want to outlaw trans people
    • They broadly support Russia with a bit of surface-level sabre-rattling
  • They're not unified, they're unified ...now?

The fact that they have conflicting ideologies (e.g. Nazis and Zionists as I said below) and continue to push in the same direction is pretty straightforward evidence of this.

The unification pre-dates Trump - the rise of the tea party saw ideological rifts, but they all fell in line when the time came. Bush wasn't a charismatic strongman... nor was McConnell for that matter.

  • See also: Nazis and Zionists.

  • It's simpler than that - the left has principles, while the right has unity and message discipline driven by deference to authority, a victim complex fear, hate, and thirst for power.

  • What did science and medicine ever do for me?

If you paywall publication and peer-review, you suppress a huge amount of science that doesn't have the kinds of checks that corporate sponsorship and review introduce. This means studies of things like the dangers of CFCs, smoking, microplastics, thalidomide, and countless other things that'll kill you will never see the light of day.

  • What on earth makes you think that after:

    • Israel have declined the dozens of ceasefires offered to them (unlike those Hamas monsters)
    • Israel funded Hamas' displacement of the secular moderates (why if not to manufacture the pretext for this genocide at the predictable expense of Israeli lives?)
    • Israel have maintained Palestine as an open air concentration camp (UN and Human Rights Watch's words not mine) for decades, controlling movement, trade, food, water, power, and "policing" them oppressively in a manner that bears no resemblance to their policing of Israelis
    • Israel spent decades killing and displacing God knows how many Palestinians in an obvious attempt to drive them out and steal their land
    • Israel have committed countless warcrimes (both before and since October 7th), killed the most journalists and aid workers per day of any conflict in history, and killed tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians while refusing to hold the IDF accountable for the warcrimes they're shamelessly posting online for clout.
    • Israel just can't stop screaming genocidal rhetoric like calls for a second, larger Amalek, the extermination of Palestinians, and calling Palestinians animals.

A surrender would stop the war in that Israel would simply wrap up their genocide faster and have noone left to murder... but I'm not a fucking demon, so I see that as an acceptable outcome.

Is your solution to school shootings to have all the schoolkids line up in an orderly fashion to be executed? I'd hate to think you wrapped your evil in a bow of inconsistency.

  • There's self-hosted LLMs, (e.g. Ollama), but for the purposes of this conversation, yeah - they're centrally hosted, compute intensive software services.

  • Neither Netanyahu or Hamas are backing down. I'm asking you why you're calling for Hamas to surrender to be killed and accelerate the genocide rather than calling for Israel to stop the genocide.

Calling it genocide isn't debatable if you use the UN or dictionary definition of the word rather than tying yourself in knots to blame the victims for not dying faster.

  • Unlike regular piracy, accessing "their" product hosted on their servers using their power and compute is pretty clearly theft. Morally correct theft that I wholeheartedly support, but theft nonetheless.

  • Tell me you haven't worked with servers without telling me you haven't worked with servers.

  • I'd argue that assuming they'd even get a passing mention is overly charitable - to your point, look at all the aid workers murdered outside that particular instance that got no reporting... and the fact that people need to be told that they've killed hundreds of aid workers and journalists - the most per day of any conflict in history initially.

  • Surrendering to those genociding your people so that they can genocide you more easily isn't a better solution.

Why are you blaming the victims of a genocide rather than calling for Israel to stop committing the genocide and surrender to the Hague? Israel are the ones with the actual ability to stop this, and they're the ones committing orders of magnitude more atrocities.

  • Think about the precedent that pulling down discussions wholesale because some inconsequential detail about them is wrong sets.

  • To summarise, Hamas is at fault because they're not surrendering to be killed, allowing Israel to mulch the Palestinians so fast that the international community miiight turn against them where the ongoing genocide and thousands of gleefully documented warcrimes haven't?

Does this seem like a reasonable assignment of blame or viable solution to the issue to you?

  • Don't make the mistake of thinking the people pushing this are doing so on ideological grounds - they don't give a single fuck about any of this - it's just an issue they can exploit to rally the common clay, salt of the earth folk.
