  • This is another of those moments when we really need a politician with a spine to stand up and clearly tell Trump to go fuck himself.

    Preferably in those exact words.

  • The problem though is that the DNC and the establishment Democrats, and Schumer and Jeffries most notably, are backed by the same moneyed interests who are backing Trump, and they don't want him to fail.

So the Democrats are going to put up just enough resistance to maintain the illusion of opposition, but not enough to actually stop him. As Trump gets weaker, it's going to be more difficult for them to manage to fail to actually stop him while maintaining the illusion, but they can do it. Hell - they even mostly managed to fail to accomplish anything when they had the White House and a Congressional majority (and not coincidentally, they already have Fetterman and Cuellar lined up to play the roles Sinema and Manchin played then).

  • splurging on rotisserie chickens...

How to tell us you've never set foot in a grocery store without telling us you've never set foot in a grocery store.

  • And I'm sure that has nothing at all to do with the fact that the current President keeps breaking his previous records for worst approval rating ever and is an overgrown toddler who throws tantrums and files lawsuits every time anyone hurts his widdle fee-fees. /s

  • Yes, because they understand that what the fans want is overpriced limited access to cringey AI dubs...

  • Trans is a medical/psychological condition.

    Anti-trans is an ideology.

  • Trump and his coattail-riders really seem determined to not only bring back the Gilded Age economic disparity, but everything about it, including the pollution, disease and death, and not as unintended consequences, but as deliberate goals.

  • So pretty much the only thing left for Schumer to complete his descent to completely useless tool is to announce in advance that he's proactively giving in to whatever the Republicans might be planning to demand next.

  • Behind every single evil the Trump regime pursues stands a handful of obscenely wealthy and greedy psychopaths.

  • Even when he's taking a position opposed to Trump, he still can't resist sucking up to him.

Fetterman is such a little man.

  • With Henry Cuellar and John Fetterman opposed.

  • Hardcore Henry

  • That's such a perfect picture to go along with that article.

  • Corporate hierarchies reward and thus effectively select for sociopathy.

A person with morals, principles, integrity and/or empathy will have particular choices they won't be willing to make - courses of action they won't be willing to follow.

A person with none of those things, which is to say, a sociopath, will be entirely free to follow any beneficial course of action, regardless of the harm it might do. Therefore a sociopath will have an advantage when fighting their way up the corporate ladder, and the system will tend to select for sociopaths.

That explains a lot of things, including but by no means limited to the linked article.

  • Oh right - of course it was plain as day that in a few years, the US would elect a deranged, delusional sociopath with the emotional development of a toddler who would, among other things, appoint the world's richest middle-aged teenage edgelord to a make-believe cabinet position as head of a department named for a 4chan meme from which he would methodically destroy every agency that might stand in the way of the wholesale economic rape of the American people,, throw a public tantrum over not receiving a Nobel Peace Prize for his complete and utter failure to negotiate peace anywhere, kidnap the President of Venezuela and appoint himself President in his place, and threaten to invade and forcibly annex Greenland, mostly in order to divert attention from the ongoing failure to complete the court-ordeted release of documents that would certainly prove that he's a child rapist.

It's so obvious. How could I have missed it?

  • It's especially weird that Trump isn't the only one in the US government who's batshit insane.

I still can't quite believe it's real. I've always been a cynic and always expected the worst of the government, but this is so far, and in such an unexpected direction, beyond anything I expected.

We really are governed by demented morons.

  • Which is a violation of his oath of office, which is ample grounds for impeachment.

Shame that Congress is full of feckless cowards

  • By design.

Trump's fantasy world can't withstand assaults by reality, so he methodically eliminates whatever bits of reality might pose a threat, and rages at and seeks vengeance on any that might still slip through.

  • Donald Trump is a deranged lunatic and an existential threat to the US and its citizens, and to people around the world, and that renders him unfit for office. He needs to be removed as soon as possible, while there's still some possibility that the extensive harm that he has done and is doing might be reversed.
