    It is very expensive to defend against even when the claim is bogus.

    The principle behind AV1, once again, is to have a modern codec that is out of reach from patent trolls. Those who are part of the AOM consortium, which developed this codec, have all contractually agreed to unconditionally license all patents they hold that are necessary for the implementation of the codec.

    And those who are not part of the consortium and who would like to claim patents relating to the AV1 or AV2 codecs would have to face the legal teams of the companies part of said consortium, including Amazon, Alibaba, Adobe, AMD, Cisco, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Mozilla Foundation, ARM, Huawei, Samsung, Tencent, Meta, Nvidia, Apple, Netflix, and other large companies.

    The AV1 and AV2 codecs, after perhaps H264, are the most secure codecs available today in terms of patent trolls. Nobody has both the will and the means to attack it.

    La porte d'entrée était en haut de l'escalier, et donnait.... sur un mur. Il fallait l'ouvrir en grand, genre 180°, pour rentrer dans le salon directement, ou alors faire un écart sur la droite, la fermer, et aller sur la gauche. Y avait plein de trucs atypiques dans cet appartement.

  • Celui-ci est au sous-sol : la rue est en pente et je suis à l’opposé, ce qui fait que mon balcon est à plusieurs mètres du sol, comme si je vivais au premier ou deuxième étage, alors que je suis en dessous du niveau 0, et au niveau du parking souterrain.

    Celui d’avant était en forme de O, le bureau, la salle de bain et la cuisine étaient traversants, et l’escalier pour y arriver était au "milieu" de l’appartement.

    Oh et j’étais mitoyen d’une bonne boulangerie, j’y descendais en pyjama pour me prendre des viennoiseries et remonter faire mes réunions en télétravail.

    Et il était géré par une agence de branques qui ne me réclamaient jamais le loyer, et qui me surfacturaient les charges, et qui ne me répondaient jamais notamment quand je demandais de régulariser. Donc un jour où j’avais accumulé 400 euros de charges surfacturées, j'ai fait sauter un loyer pour les faire réagir, et en l’absence de justificatif, j’ai arrêté de payer les charges, parce que je préfère leur devoir de l’argent que l’inverse.

    Bah ils ont jamais réagi, et le délai de prescription de 3 ans est passé. Moi ça me va.

    Plus tard, le RIB sur lequel je faisais le virement du loyer a expiré, et ils n’ont pas envoyé le nouveau, alors j'ai fait comme eux : le mort. J’ai continué à faire les virements tous les 1er du mois sur le RIB expiré, la somme revenait instantanément sur mon compte. Ça a duré 9 mois pendant lesquels ma capacité d’épargne était appréciable, même si je gardais la somme sous le coude pour la rendre dès qu’ils allaient réclamer.

    Puis ils m'ont appelé pour me réclamer les loyers ; j’ai joué au con en disant que les virements étaient automatiques depuis un compte que je ne surveillais pas tellement, que j’allais voir ce qu’il en était, et je leur ai demandé les factures pour avoir la somme que je leur devais. Elle a bafouillé un truc comme quoi elle allait me ressortir les factures mais j’ai compris qu’ils ne savaient pas à partir de quel mois les paiements n’étaient plus passés.

    Donc j’ai payé 6 mois sur les 9, pour voir. Ils n’ont jamais réagi.

    Puis quand je leur ai demandé la procédure pour quitter l’appartement, encore une fois ils m’ont royalement ignoré, donc j’ai fait un recommandé, et ils se sont réveillés 2 mois plus tard pour venir prendre des photos et remettre l’appartement en location.

    J’ai gardé le dernier loyer parce que j’étais à peu près sûr qu’ils n’allaient pas me répondre pour me rendre la caution, et j’ai eu raison. Ils ne m’ont ni rendu la caution, ni réclamé le loyer.

    Bref, de royaux branleurs, mais ça m’a bien profité.
