  • Maybe places where the government reasonably represents more than a small sliver of society aren't used to making that distinction? Not sure if how much that is the case in Denmark or perceived to be the case there. But anyone reasonably used to the government not implementing even basic policies supported by 75%+ people in the country because some lobbying group says "no" should be used to differentiating between the government and the people it rules over. Would be like blaming the people of India for all of the atrocities committed by the British Empire when they were a colony.

  • The person who I've most recently seen who likes gock has no problem expressing his love of men (and women) and penises in general, so he's certainly not a closeted gay man. Their top preference just happens to be a mixture of features that typically belong to one sex or the other and trans women disproportionately fit the type at some point in their transitioning. But I don't think they're a chaser.

  • Honestly, I complained that episode 1 and 2 felt like movie trailers rather than actual episodes due to the lack a lot of the exposition I expect from the start of a season. So I welcomed the polar opposite as a make-up for the previous two episodes. Also <3 diagrams

  • If they're just normal about their interest in a certain type but still saw me as a human worthy of basic respect rather than just a sex toy, I wouldn't personally call them a chaser.

    Granted, I'm still early in my transition and don't date (aroace), so I have limited experience with such and don't have to to deal with partners who'd be disappointed if I did things like got bottom surgery, but would still be respectful about it. So my usage of the term may be different. But not sure if there are enough cis men in the world who are into gock are also respectful to make a meaningful differentiation from chasers.

  • There's weird and then there's things like mildly (or sometimes majorly) creepy, offputting, or awkward to converse with, which might also be called weird (but I think would be better served with more accurate language, although some of those might be considered negative enough that you might want a euphemism if you aren't certain). But even if you are just normal weird, your weird might just not jive with someone else's interests. Like, if you're just really really into professional Cricket and from the US, I'd think that's weird, but like not interesting.

  • I forgot about the O'Reily clip. Impressive levels of cognitive dissonance that people go through to justify their feelings on events. I'm still baffled that people can misremember basic timelines facts involved with one of the biggest disruptions of people's lifetimes that only had happened a few years ago. Realizing how fictional people's memories were about even recent major events made it a lot more understandable how people were so easily manipulated in to thinking a billionaire conartist was somehow going to try to help them this time.
