  • That's against the law in MA, passenger would be at fault.

Motorist Responsibilities (see MGL Chapter 89, Section 2 and Chapter 90, Section 14)

Motorists and their passengers must check for passing bicyclists before opening their door. Motorists and their passengers can be ticketed and fined up to $100 for opening car or truck doors into the path of any other traffic, including bicycles and pedestrians.

  • I'm not embarrassed by my browser history but I'd die if someone found my calculator history.

  • I've only used dcfc a handful of times, usually I can find one along the route so it isn't an emergency when I get there, never have had to wait. Even google maps is getting better at reporting if chargers are available. I usually find a hotel that has level 2 charging and just let it fill up over night, which is usually MUCH cheaper than dcfc anyway.

  • Fucking legend.

  • Are you fucking sorry!!?!

  • If you need to worry about electrical insulation just get new boots, if not shoe glue will give life for a a bit longer.

  • I've had the same pair of timberland pro boots for 2 years, i walk about 5 miles a week in them through train ballast, they're still mostly like new.

  • Huh, didnt know cnn plays dota2.

  • Fucking infuriating.

  • Keep the iron on delicates, duty cycle much higher and the breaker will trip before the middle is warm.

Alternatively you could plug the dryer somewhere else, or use a toaster oven.

  • Albania is awesome, I spent a couple weeks there. Awesome food, amazing scenery, everyone was very kind.

Also the two headed eagle on the flag is cool.

  • Putting it in the freezer might shrink it down a bit.

  • I setup moonlight+sunshine, I don't even remember anything about the setup because it was straight forward and worked without any tinkering. I even used a raspberry pi 4 as a client and it felt fine. I say just go for it, you'll be up and running in just a few minutes and you lose nothing if it doesn't meet your needs.

  • Blender donut tutorial gets wilder with each new version, but I appreciate the practical exercise using the new features.

  • Man, my oldest kiddo is going into neuroscience, there are paid internship opportunities, which is awesome but I worry she'll end up using something like these to snuff mice all day. I don't think I could do that job.

  • Power analyses indicated that sample sizes were sufficient to detect a 4.2% difference in mean TEE (Hadza vs. Western, α = 0.05) in comparisons among women (power 97%) and 7.6% difference among men (power 93%).

So the Hanza people used more energy than westerners but I guess if you can just say 7.6% more energy is not significant then I guess it isn't.

The paper you linked is literally saying the people that move more burn more calories.

  • Not OP but I'll bite, the absurdly long and wordy article you linked vaguely summarizes some studies, then actually cites a study of 300 people that wore a fitbit for a week. It says nothing about how they calculated the calories burnt other than what a fitbit estimates. If you burn an extra 200 calories a day with exercise you are not going to make that up by sleeping harder or whatever unexplained mechanism the author fails to produce, you will either lose weight or consume more calories.
