  • Oh, I agree. I meant SSO in the second sense: that there are external Identity Providers that you can use to create an account at different servers hosting different kind of fediverse experiences - be it Lemmy, PeerTube, Mastodon or ... I understand the issue you are describing first, but I haven't had that problem yet. Sounds like it could be fixed with a simple redirect - but I guess it is not so easy to figure out whether you need a redirect in the first place.

  • Only if you don't introduce a "repeating 3 slides? You lose" rule. Checkmate is the bigger issue imho.

  • Hab's bereits vor ein paar Wochen genutzt, aber gut, dass du's teilst. Sehr schönes tool, um allen Verantwortlichen zu schreiben.

  • Mhm, why limit to first slide then move? I agree with gap cannot be crossed.

  • Wir könnten die Zahl bestimmt noch erhöhen. Wo muss man sich melden ^^

  • Love the idea. Do you always have to slide two steps or can you half step slide? Is sliding a move or an additional action?

I think this has to require that it counts as a game loss to do the same slide three times. It feels too easy to force a draw sliding.

  • Has a weird open mouth that cat...

  • Cheers! Would be cool to see SSO happening as it would simplify joining multiple fediverse instances (PeerTube, Pixelfed, ...).

  • Definitely helps! Regarding the call offer: I might come back to it once I have a pretty good outline for the presentation to double check/clarify the information I've found.

  • This explanation on how images and videos are embedded while text messages are copied is really helpful!

  • Thanks. That worked.

  • But this is a peertube limitation, right? Activity Pub itself provides the video information and peertube - due to whatever reasons (most likely the economical reasons you mention) - decides to not use that information / reject "the mail". Is a message sent is only stored on the receiving end or also on the node I am sending it from?

  • Good response! You were right. I thought that it would work similarly to SSO i.e. your instance works as an identity provider and your content is then generated on the other page, not send there.

Alright, so following the mail metaphor: lemmy is unable to send a video attachment so it can't allow you to upload videos to peertube; however, activity pub could allow for that.

I think I have to read up on the exact definition of "group".

Maybe I should create a new post for this but has there ever been discussions regarding SSO? So you have one identity across all fediverse services?

  • It's quite funny because people with their own servers have no issues but don't get back from people using the official servers leading to "Why did they suddenly stop replying?" moments.

  • While revolt is currently unable to provide all features Discord has, for chatting it is definitely a viable option and I am happy to see how quickly it develops. I am considering moving once it reaches a higher state of maturity (I use discord mainly for voice and screenshare). However, I feel like Matrix + Element is the perfect answer to the question.

  • Sounds good, but looks desperate regarding Epstine.

  • In my first year I had multiple issues with Linux. Mainly because I tried to install stuff that wasn't meant for my version of the OS but for an older one and I blindly followed the "black market" tutorials how to uninstall and reinstall packages to meet requirements. That corrupted my system and I had to repair it multiple times. Also, I played around with many distros and multibooted them all, destroying my grub once or twice.

Now that I use Ubuntu for a "longer" time, I rarely have issues except hardware specific ones. For example the webcam doesn't work on my dell laptop because apparently it is not supported right out of the box. But apart from that I have no issues compared to windows (where imho windows 11 is an issue in itself).

  • What's the difference compared to Trilium?
