  • Yeah, I do too. I just wish it was otherwise. I wish people with integrity could stick it out.

  • I deeply appreciate his whistle blower report. I wish someone with his level of integrity hadn't resigned, though. Resigning means you're done fighting. That worked as a protesting previous administration's but means they'll put in someone much worse in this one.

  • To be fair, though, Trump is deeply unlikable for many people. I've had almost a physical reaction to hearing him speak or seeing him since his debates against Hillary. He's always seemed gross and slimy to me.

In other words, just because you and I see JD as unlikable doesn't mean that MAGA will also find him unlikable. In fact, Vance's approval rating among republicans is 89% favorable while among democrats it is 3% favorable as of the beginning of August.

  • I don't think they'll deconvert. I do hope they will become apathetic without their "charismatic" leader. I don't think Vance will be able to hold people's attention as well or rile them up to the same degree.

Side note: Calling Trump "charismatic" makes me want to vomit, but apparently he is for some people...

  • So, essentially, one Mexican senator spouted off on Fox News about welcoming US military intervention. This isn't a widely held position and is just the position of one extremist senator. Is that right?

  • No, it says that hard work "leads to success" not that "hard work is success". Typically, when applied to people, success doesn't mean working hard. It means attaining something the person wants. In the case of a donkey, their personal definition of success is likely different than for a person. That is what I meant by my comment.

  • If I'm a donkey, I define it as having good apples, tasty carrots, lots of oats, and companionship from other animals and humans.

I'm also amazed that this comment, of all of my comments, is one of my most downvoted on lemmy. I thought it was pretty tame and just pointed out the silliness of the meme.

  • This depends on how you define success.

Edit: Huh, I thought this was a pretty tame comment. I just mean that donkeys likely have a different idea of "success" than people do. I'm not quite sure why this is being taken so negatively. I just thought the meme was kind of silly and dumb.

  • What is this "if" business? They've been openly doing this for decades. Take REDMAP for example. Democrats have failed to respond.

As long as democrats fail to respond and just play defense, they will continue to need 53% of the vote to win the presidency and will continue losing federal and state legislative majorities.

  • As I keep telling people, they're not upset about it because their media aren't telling them about things like this, at least not in the same terms.

  • In other words, Texas Dems are unprincipled cowards. Imagine what happens when they face a real threat. Fascism is going to break these useless bastards so fast...

  • I'm not saying that we can't criticize but does it need to start now? Can't it wait until we see who the field of candidates are so we can avoid tarring the candidates before they even start debating? I am mainly worried that the democrats are going to rip themselves apart again before campaign season even starts.

  • He's been pushing back in a lot of ways. I don't like him and would vote against him in a primary, but I'd absolutely vote for him if he wins the nomination.

As to what he's done, here are a few things off the top of my head:

    • Began the process of redistricting CA to offset what TX is doing.
    • Sued to keep the national guard from being deployed to LA.
    • Pushed back on repeal of the EV mandate.

Again, I don't like him. He's slimy. I still will vote for him if he's nominated.

  • Do we need to start the purity tests already, though? I don't like Newsom and would vote against him in most any primary but I will absolutely vote for him over Trump or any other current republican. I can't name a single republican I'd vote for at this point because they're all complicit.

  • We're going to cut NASA's eath science mission. At the same time we're going to slash NOAA's ability to perform science. You know, I get the feeling that these people don't want us to understand what their greedy policies are doing to our planet.

  • A lot of the other light patches in this image are city lights.

  • Dumb question. If they collect donations, how do they plan to get them into Gaza?

I worry that donation campaigns for Gaza are likely scams because they won't be able to get the aid where it is supposed to go. I worry that the people leading this are just pocketing the donations.

Please tell me I'm wrong and these people are actually trying to use the donations well...
