  • This has been discussed a while back, at least here in NL as far as I know it started because of legalising online gambling for which you need to be identified. Also, due to GDPR, businesses aren't allowed to make copies of ID's/passports/driving licences any more which is required for certain businesses (notaries, accountants, etc). In my office we currently use some kind of identification software, but it isn't anonyms because well we wouldn't be able to do our job.

  • The thing is they are American corporations who care to much about their public image. I would be highly suprised if they national payment platforms would also accept this. (ideal/bankcontant/wero/etc)

  • Mhe, it's only once in the last 10 years that I have to think about it and it's an easy thing to solve.

  • They generally don´t need it though

  • Friendly reminder that some services do need your ID otherwise they cannot help you or at least they need to very you (accountants, notaries, etc)

edit: I can´t do your tax report if I 1 don´t identify you and 2 I don't have the social security for which I need to do the report

  • A motion detector is far more inferior to precense detectors, most just use milimator wave though.

  • Never said that it wasn’t easy, it’s just harder than with facial recognition. In theory you could do it correctly in a way that it isn’t indentifiable.

Also this works in places where faces are protected

  • Considering how big some stores are in countries this doesn’t surpirse me, if a small supermarket near me can already have 20 different ketchups then why would the massive general store in the nearest city not have a wall of sex toys?

  • And the worst part is that America pulls the rest of the world with it.

  • In The Netherlands this is pretry common as well, heck in even abroad I have been asked the question

  • There is no chance she is going to believe that I drive 40-60min without my phone dor mysic lol, but I could try it.

Or I just say that I have an appointment with a client of mine (if she asks), that also works

  • Considering it is designed by an American mega corp, yes it is probably poorly designed because they go for profit maximalisation.

  • They know you are a person and they can call your a certain UUID, but there will be a hard time matching you to your name etc.

Camera's can do face recognition (if your face is even in the database) to know who you are.

This only works until the point where they have your form in a database which they can check...

  • It is cool for home automation if you can turn it into a presence detection software (do not connect your Homeassistant to the internet though)

  • I am more worried that she is going to spoil the surprise for herself ...

  • Me an my GF have been sharing location for years now, it has never been an issue and often been handy to see if one of us is driving from work to home or finding each other in a festival or theme park etc.

But well I kinda wanna surprise here and for that I need to drive somewhere where I normally don't go, so now I gotta find an excuse just incase she checks my location. Or I just turn of my Phone for an hour or two

  • Remember that we used to have social media's in specific countries, but at least the one I know (Hyves) got bought out by the Americans iirc (or the Chinese)

  • Good, NVIDIA can die for all I care with their anti consumer bullshit practises.

  • Basically, nobody sells it, but you could technically produce milk in a way more animal friendly way. The current breads of cows all over the world have an influx in milk production, so even if you do not take the calf away and milk them manually, it would still be enough milk to use/sell.

This is all hugely theoretical unless you yourself have a couple cows that you milk for personal use or a small farm.

You are probably just anti-milk industry than actually anti-milk.
