  • I get headaches too, and that's after like 75 rounds. Semi-autos are nicer for recoil, as well as a limbsaver buttpad, and I gaffer tape on a foam cheek-riser/comb to get a proper fit and some extra cushioning.

I find that traditional wood-stock twin-barrel guns are heavier and fatiguing and the recoil is still a cheek bruiser, and yes it was properly fitted and i wasn't leaving gaps in my cheek or shoulder. Last time I went out with a semi-auto, with the mods previously mentioned, as well as a red dot. I ended up doing about the same or a bit better as a traditional rib and bead setup and it was quite comfy. 24" barrel, modified choke. 16/25 at the five-stand setup, only one guy got a better score with 18. He actually said an improved cylinder choke (a bit more open) worked best.

I'm still a noob and I appreciate your input.

  • I think it's the best look at the state of modern combat and where it's headed. This guy has been a drone operator for Ukraine and has done I think 4 tours including just this summer. He says 90-95% of casualties come from drones now. AI drones and turrets are on the near horizon.

    Get your cardboard boxes ready.

  • In November 1981 Reagan signed National Security Directive 17, which allowed covert support to anti-Sandinista forces. The U.S. government armed, trained and funded the Contras, a group of rebel fighters based in Honduras, in an attempt to overthrow the Nicaraguan government. As part of the training, the CIA distributed a detailed manual entitled "Psychological Operations in Guerrilla War", which instructed the Contras, among other things, on how to blow up public buildings, to assassinate judges, to create martyrs, and to blackmail ordinary citizens.] In addition to backing the Contras, the U.S. government also blew up bridges and mined harbors, causing the damaging of at least seven merchant ships and blowing up numerous Nicaraguan fishing boats. They also attacked Corinto harbour on October 10, 1983, causing 112 wounded according to the Nicaraguan government. After the Boland Amendment, passed in 1982, made it illegal for the U.S. government to provide funding for Contra activities, Reagan's administration secretly sold arms to the Iranian government to fund a secret U.S. government apparatus that continued illegally to fund the Contras, in what became known as the Iran–Contra affair. The U.S. continued to arm and train the Contras even after the Sandinista government of Nicaragua won the elections of 1984.

His administration initially brushed off the AIDS epidemic and hindered the CDC and NIH response. People directly under him called it God's punishment against homosexuality. Over 80,000 Americans died from AIDS in the 80s. As of 2018, about 700,000 people have died of HIV/AIDS in the United States since the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and nearly 13,000 people with AIDS in the United States die each year.

He bombed Libya, killing 15 civilians.

This is hardly exhaustive. His policies as California governor and POTUS upended social programs, increased crime, poverty, childhood malnutrition.

  • The number 1 biggest tip (and not just for shotgun) is target focus. Look at the target hard, with intensity, and with both eyes. Everything else will follow. Our eyes are not locked into our sights, not tunnel-visioning through them. We're not looking where we are pointing. We will naturally point where we end up looking.

  • Good question. I believe it's illegal to shoot any kind of aircraft in the US, including your own drone on your own property. So it's difficult to find tests. This is all I've found.

The nice thing about shotguns is the vast variety of ammo and pellet sizes. IDK what pellet size you need for what range. If an FPV is coming right at you anything should work, that's the anecdotal evidence out of Ukraine. If it's something flying high up and dropping a bomb, then I guess you'd want bigger pellets. The material the projectiles are made of matters as well. Some rando on Quora says use a goose-hunting setup. Something like BBB or T size in Steel or bismuth/tungsten alloy.

Dick Cheney shot a guy 30 to 40 yards away with birdshot (I'm guessing #8 pellet) out of a 28-gauge shotgun. It collapse a lung, and a pellet lodged near his heart caused a heart attack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney_hunting_accident

  • Racking a pump action like that is perfectly fine, but it's difficult depending on how smooth the action on the particular gun is. In fact, better to rack it hard all the way back and all the way forward than to short-stroke it and cause a jam.

I would not recommend spinning a loaded lever action shotgun like Arnold does.

  • Skeet is when you have a high launcher on one side and a low launcher (i think they call them houses actually) on the other. And they both launch sideways across the middle pretty much at the same time.

In Trap, they launch one clay away from you at a random angle.

5 stand, theres a bunch of different kinds of launches: away, toward you, a "rabbit" bouncing along the ground, a "teal" that launches straight up.

Sporting clays is kind of like 5-stand but you move from one shooting position to the next like golf.

  • Skeet is a nice challenge, trying to get a feel for leading the sideways-moving targets.

  • Tangential question: I saw a pre-fiber-optic-drones figure of 75% of casualties were cause by drones, and another a bit later by theweek.com saying 80%. Can anyone point me toward recent figures?
