  • is there any way to invest ethically as a sole individual?

  • IMO, the amount you’re going to be investing isn’t going to make a change, so you should invest in a low cost index fund and then find others ways to contribute to the world (especially your local community).

    We are all individuals who can’t change the world by ourselves but we can impact the people around us through small acts of kindness and that impact will be MUCH greater than investing small amounts of money in “ethical” stocks.

  • That’s significantly lower than NYC area which is already considered fairly priced compared to many surrounding areas.

    My house is assessed at $650k (that’s nothing in NYC) and I pay around $5400 a year in property taxes.

  • It’s an easy choice when the few or the one does not refer to oneself. However, when a person is asked to put the needs of everyone else above their own individual needs, it becomes a much more difficult conversation for any person to have.

  • I didn’t get a chance to do early voting, but will be going tomorrow. Foreign policy is not something I’m concerning myself in any mayoral election. Also, however, of the four candidates I’m ranking, Cuomo is definitely not one of them.

    The immigrants in question were here on a valid visa with pending asylum trials. They were here legally and he hired them legally.

    Him being upset is a good thing. It’s one person whose mind may start changing. We need A LOT more people to be willing to face their decisions and then admit they don’t like what they’re seeing.
