  • Hmm... I'd only index public data (I'm not totally there yet of course), which can be found by anyone, but if there is some way for people, posts, communities, servers, to opt out then ok. Serious question: is there though? Second question, I'm wanting to do this open source, which means anybody can take it, remove the check and scan everything. What are your thoughts about that?

If you know how to query servers, communities, posts or comments on that topic I'm all ears, I'm only doing 50% of that today BTW.

On a side note, where is your 0xCAFE come from? Is it like the stack overflow/ memory error checks like 0xDEAD(or 0xDEADBEEF) and so?

    Cheers!

  • Made a little script and raked almost 1800 servers and over 40.000 communities.

If someone has the http api call for messages and posts I'd love continuing and maybe set up some sort of search engine... Or maybe I should go with the soap(?) one but I don't know how to do it in python, any information greatly appreciated!

  • IProut 2

    The french version of fart.

  • Not with that attitude 😎

  • What's the benefits of compute modules, except the sd card? Doesn't it have to have hardware support to work?

  • Yeah, make a Pi with 1GB RAM, video & ethernet for like 20-30€ and you'd ruin me.

I know about the banana, orange, whetever-pis but in my experience they always needed lots of extra stuff to work (like fucing and recompiling libraries). The Pi "just worked" IMO.

  • The last Linux Mint installs went totally smooth. On think centres /thinkpads though. Usualy never had problems installing windows except back in the day and you needed to prime and cut up your hard drives.

  • I just jumped ship completely (last was dealing with scanner & printer) with windows, where can I find replacements for the 5 people I "follow" on youtube (ukraine war reports & beginner chess)? I mean is there even an alternative?

  • So what does it do?

For me a KVM is a switch for keeb, mouse and eventually a screen (or a virtual machine :-)

  • An IP graphics card?

Interesting. When is this more convenient than a virtual desktop (if it is what I guess it is)?

  • Then C/C++ is You're a smart nerd.

    Let the flame wars begin!

  • Thanks, I'll restart and see how it works out.

  • Good question! I think it was after.

  • Ouch, thank you 🥲!

How often do you restart it/whats it doing/any idea what's no longer working or why?

    Good luck to the developers!

    And thank you obviously!

  • Rebooted, server feels snappier but thats about it.

Just FYI: I post regular posts on one of my communities on my server and they usually get like 10-20 upvotes, since the upgrade they linger at just one or a couple upvotes.

  • On the support community on lemmy.world I get:

Socket timeout has expired [the url link, socket_timeout=10000]

Maybe I should just reboot oe something but I'd rather understand an eventual underlying problem...

  • Think centre tiny gang rise up :-) !
