    For me the biggest benefit aside from generally increased fitness is how it helps with my mental health. It's hardly a new revelation that exercising regularly is good for your mental health. But it's so much easier to get yourself to move when you have to to get somewhere than it is if it's purely for exercise. At least for me.

  • Does this egg-washing thing Americans do mean you have to keep them refrigerated even if they are hard-boiled? Because where I live you can keep hard-boiled eggs for days or even weeks even at room temperature. I never heard of anyone just throwing away the eggs they hide for kids. You hide them, the kids find them, you put them in the fridge, you eat them.

    Edit: I don't know if you added the part about refrigeration later or I just missed it before. That answers my question. I guess it makes sense because the shell will be porous. Wow, I never considered this affects easter customs.

  • Hm, weiß nicht, die Leute, die bei mir im Heimatdorf jetzt Nazis sind, waren schon immer zu rechts für mich und ich hatte wenig Kontakt zu denen. Aber liegt vielleicht auch daran, dass ich das Glück hab, dass meine Eltern auch links-grün versifft sind und sich eher mit einer Bubble aus Leuten umgeben haben, die ähnlich drauf sind, und ich mit deren Kindern rumhing. Das Schlimmste, was da rauskam, war Homöopathiegeschwurbel.

  • For what it's worth, while there certainly are public bathrooms with stalls from floor to ceiling, the most common design does have gaps between the floor and the stall (at least here in Germany). Just not as big as the gaps in the US. You'd have to get uncomfortably close to the floor of a public bathroom to see anything. And no gaps between the door and the walls.

  • Das Problem ist halt, dass die Kirchen der Arbeitgeber sind, aber der Großteil der Finanzierung nicht von den Kirchen kommt. Dass ein Pfarrer oder andere mit wirklich kirchennahen Jobs diese Werte vertreten sollten, kann ich ja noch hinnehmen. Aber nicht der Erzieher im Kindergarten oder die Ärztin im Krankenhaus, die hauptsächlich anderweitig finanziert werden.

  • Und ich kenne mehrere Personen, die nur deshalb noch in der Kirche sind, weil sie für eine Einrichtung mit kirchlichem Träger (aka "wir zahlen ein paar wenige Prozent der Betriebskosten und dürfen dafür bei der Stellenvergabe diskriminieren und uns mit unserem wichtigen sozialen Beitrag brüsten") arbeiten oder sich für die Zukunft die Option offen halten wollen. Frag mich, wie vielen es wohl so geht.

    For me it heavily depends on the context. For example I have spent some time working out a color palette for my wardrobe, so now the colors I use there are heavily associated for me.

    Without any context, it's similar to your grouping, except for the second group: oranges go nearly all to the reds, yellows go to the greens, browns go to black and greys.

  • I think it does make a difference. When the parties are voted for before forming the coalition, you know exactly how many people supported them and their policies. Then the coalition is negotiated based on that. If you form the coalition first, then only the majorities inside the coalition matter for who has the most say, you have no way of knowing what's important to the voters.

  • Ich verstehe, worauf du hinaus willst und will da nicht grundsätzlich dagegen argumentieren. Aber zu diesem Punkt:

    Wieso sollten denn konservative Männer linke Frauen daten wollen?

    Meiner Erfahrung nach ist es vielen Männern, die sich als konservativ bezeichnen, relativ egal, was die Frau für eine politische Einstellung hat. Im Sinne von: Was Frauen denken spielt in ihrer Lebenswelt nicht die geringste Rolle, egal in welcher Richtung. Hauptsache sie bekommen, was sie wollen. Wenn nicht, ist die Frau eine hässliche, geldgeile Schlampe.
