  • Someone will eventually pull the lever to stop the trolley

    Why

  • IINM, Mandalorian suggested the Darksaber felt heavier to people with zero talent in the Force, so minimal training is required, I think. IIRC there were discussions on whether this applied to all lightsabers, and I vaguely recall Rebels hinting at the same idea, I don't remember much but I think Kanan was already training Sabine in regard to the Darksabers for the same reason, and Ahsoka simply continued that plotline even though it got busted in Mando. But I don't know where that went or if that was really ironed out and standardized or if people kept writing whatever they wanted.

  • Remember when the Democrats propped up Trump thinking Clinton would curbstomp him because who the hell would vote for him? Good times. (Europe is doing the same, pushing the far right to pretend the vanilla right is the only viable opposition and actually pretty center, and then act surprised when everything implodes)

  • That's right, when a foreign army invades your country, don't escalate, just give them control of your government and your institutions.

  • The molehill is your focus on the word believe

The serious part is the US just waltzing into a foreign country planting signs and Mexico removing them

  • Chinese movies, historical and fantastic, have a raging hard on for rows and rows of faceless mooks pushing against each other. Only the leader is allowed to have individual fights. You want the historical approach, you look at China. It's the whole Confucianism root.

  • Heroes Reborn, 2015.

  • We didn't just start using our brains like that in recent time only. There may have been a few Albert Einsteins in the stone age but if they couldn't spread their ideas, then that civilization did not have that knowledge. Leather tanning and meat conservation can be discovered easily, but it has to be rediscovered every time there's a new group of 20 people, it doesn't get transfered to be improved upon over the centuries.

The problem your reasoning is missing is scale. We know you can't build the Great Pyramid if your busiest cultural center is a village of 200 people in the closest 100 km and they couldn't communicate.

And all our tech is based on improving upon something that exists. No one can conjure a microchip and a cell phone out of thin air.

  • Brendan the navigator, 6th c., but the story about "Saint Brendan's island" is not proven to be about America AFAIK. Or true. It's a legend about a blessed island that may be a religious myth.

There's a ton of legends of sailors finding a vanishing island, an island of plenty, the island of apples, that various theories have attached to the Canaries or Azores and such IINM. Saint Brendan is just one among those, so it's hard to assume it's fact.

Also, Leif Erikson was in year 1000. And there is a strong suspicion that diseases did play a big role and made it a shitshow.

  • So you mean the oldest pyramid, not the last? The pyramids in Egypt were built starting around ~2660 BCE up until ~1530 BCE, with the 3 in Giza through 2600 to 2530 BCE, roughly. All dates give or take maybe 10 years. The dates you have would likely be a range for the first of the 3 pyramids in Giza.

  • ? The last pyramid in Egypt (other cultures like the Nubians built their own) was built by Ahmose I in the mid to late 16th c. BCE, IINM. Not sure what you're thinking of for 2611 BCE, even the Giza pyramids are within the hundred years after that.

  • Not that many people have actually died in Gaza, as a percentage of the total population. For that to work as a means of genocide, the number of dead Gazans would be in the millions. It is not.

Uh? Wasn't the population in all of Gaza about 2 millions? Estimates these last few months put the death toll at 700 000 AFAIK, what percentage would be mass genocide?

  • How about lets win something before we dismantle our army

What do you do when the people getting protected are hindering those wins?

  • No, Biden was elected after Trump 1. Then people wanted more change and it became very clear that Biden was not going to win his reelection (not because of policies alone). Harris simply didn't either, but she didn't lose where the old white man would have won in the same circumstances and everything else equal. Harris being equal to Biden is what lost votes, not her gender.

  • Are you going to try and claim that Friends is better than Breaking Bad or the first 8 seasons of Game of Thrones?

    Yes

  • Remind me what's the conversion rate from pound to dollar? Probably the right ballpark.

  • The Nero fiddling was entirely slander, and saying he probably could and should have done something is complaining after the fact. He was a day away from Rome when he heard a fire had started, he hauled ass back there, and he personally ran around with the fire brigades to pull people from the wrecks, oppening food supplies, gardens for shelters. And then after all that he plowed the debris away and set new building regulations to make sure a big fire couldn't do that much damage again - so he did actually do a lot about it. And then he took the empty space to build his golden palace and that's what got people pissed and rumors spreading. Before all that, he wasn't doing anything weirder than anyone else, beside sitting by while his mom murdered everybody else to sit him on a throne that he didn't care for (and then he murdered her to be free of the abuse). The people liked him, it's the nobles/rich who didn't. Historians tried to blame him, but it's clear there was no easy prevention method beside razing and rebuilding; Rome was long known as a fire hazard with shit wooden buildings and zero ventilation safety, fires weren't rare. The blame game didn't come from what he could have done before and didn't do or from any sort of prescience that he should have had that no one else had before, it's purely religious propaganda after the fact, when he tried to place the blame to some weirdo sect. Hell, he might even have been right, but we'll never know.

  • 4 of those videos (probably 5) are the same channel though?

  • You see, this is why I speak of nuance.

No, you don't. You "observe" that both sides are "saying the same thing." You remove all nuance. And then you piss around complaining about being misunderstood and misinterpreted. And it turns out everyone sees through you because everyone already knows the "just asking questions" "just observing (very vague surface level vacuities)" stereotype.

    I'm not American, dumbass.
