  • Somebody shoulds tells Murderface that it's not alsways-ways abouts him.

  • Something requiring a secured bank account or something? Sorry, its been a few months and I haven't had a chance to take another look today. I may be mixing up regulations or misremembering entirely.

  • Hell yeah, sounds like a plan. Have you run into any compatibility issues? I've read that bank apps can have issues and my CU is unlikely to work. I tried setting their website up as a PWA but ran into VPN-related issues. Will do research myself but if you/another commenter has insight I'd appreciate it!

  • Edit 2

I found the individual pieces through my research earlier this year. Laying it out for me plainly really helps and has me revisiting the idea. I think I stumbled after learning about the need for enough funding to self-support? I'll look into it more.

Thank you, I really appreciate your help and encouragement.

  • Where did you order your battery, and how did you replace it? My mom's 7a is having battery issues and this may be a good path for her.

  • That sounds pretty excellent! I think my hesitation stems from ensuring I back up the correct data currently on my phone as well as post-install setup. Can you elaborate on those processes?

  • Thank you for the assistance! From my earlier research I do hold a qualifying engineering degree. I'm also interested in studying for a Masters or potentially PhD at Göthenburg, but frankly will accept any path to legally move and work somewhere that isn't the US. The EU in general and Sweden or Germany in particular have been my focus thus far and I sincerely appreciate a new route to investigate.

  • I've been sitting on the Pixel update bringing AI to my 7 Pro for 70+ days at this point. Been meaning to switch to Graphene, might be about that time.

  • A. Invoking the evil of Satan against a literal Satanist is bringing piss to a shit fight.

    B. Dehumanization is a tool of fascism; you are the problem.

  • Hope that helps. If you have more questions I'll gladly answer them. I'm a union man and have negotiated quite a few vacation plans.

Any chance the Engineers of Sweden (Sverigas ingenjörer?) or other, similar union have resources for foreign engineers looking to join/work? I researched and started the work visa and job hunt processes earlier this year but didn't make it too far without knowledge and guidance.

  • It is ridiculous to give a free pass to voters who voted for mask-off, celebrated hate and bigotry. Blaming the DNC while Trump 2028 flags are flying 6 months into his 2nd and legally final term is deflection at best and bad-faith shit posting at worst.

  • Prove it in court and put them in jail then.

  • My dude I will piss through the brick wall that is Trump and his cult if I must.

Its not just his actions hurting people. The hate he has espoused and encouraged amongst the public has promoted nationalistic and dehumanizing beliefs to a boiling point, not to mention the influence and power he has provided the Heritage Foundation and their implementation of Project 2025.

  • I appreciate staying conscious of voting fatigue and tend to agree with that assessment. I do take some issue with relying on the recall option as the primary means to handle potential bad-actor admins. I may be extrapolating further than strictly necessary but I am curious as to what actions a rogue admin is capable of taking unilaterally as well as the potential knock-on effects of a gross abuse of that power.

I suppose my position and concern is aimed primarily at a robust vetting process. I don't think its a stretch to say a majority of db0 users have some level of privacy consciousness. I certainly don't want a security clearance level deep dive into a potential admins personal life but there does need to be some level of certainty of a person's motivations before they are handed the keys.

I don't think a positive post history is sufficient for that decision, especially if (hypothetically) qualitative judgements are made on the actual content contained therein. Such a history is certainly beneficial, but also subject to misrepresentation. Determining who to trust with decision-making powers under the reality of internet anonymity is a tough question, though one I think worth discussion.

  • How will new sys/admins be selected, vetted, and promoted? What safeguards are in place/could be implemented to keep the flotilla safe from potential malicious actors?

Similarly (if not indentically) what damaging actions could a rogue actor or disgruntled admin unilaterally perform? The voting structure is a good start of course, but are individual actions physically limited until such a vote has taken place or is it a gentleman's agreement-type situation?

Apologies if these questions are answered elsewhere, though I do think it valuable to have them reiterated here.

  • Check out Blotted Science and Behold...the Arctopus! Anything with Ron Jarzombek (Blotted) and Colin Marston (Behold) should scratch that itch. I don't have much microtonal in the library but now you've got me wanting to dig deeper. I'll get back to you in a few days!

Otherwise if you're cool with avant-garde in general I'd also recommend Dodecahedron, Imperial Triumphant, Igorrr, Meshuggah (THE polyrhythm kings), and Unexpect.

  • Guitar virtuosity is rampant in metal! You should take a look at Tosin Abasi - start with TRAM, then his bandmate Javier's project Mestís, then his band Animal's as Leaders's album The Joy of Motion. TRAM is modern jazz, Mestís is very Spanish influenced, and AAL is one of my favorite bands of all time. All (primarily) instrumental.

CHON and Covet are both chill prog/math-rock with incredible guitar work. I'd recommend CHON's Newborn Sun EP or Homey LP. Covet's first two releases, Currents EP and Effloresce, have been my sleeping music every night for a couple years at this point.

I can recommend heavier/harsh stuff as well, but based on your current preferences these are good starting points. Feel free to keep replying or DM if you want more!

  • As a dedicated metal-type autist for over 15 years I am proud to say I'm not on this list. I am the Ambassador, the Professor, the Diplomat. I welcome any and all into the fold and love to help people find their niche. My personal taste leans towards prog, black, and death but my knowledge runs deep and I love to share it.

  • Have you considered going instrumental?
