Personally I would love a dumbphone but I find a smartphone too useful (specifically map and transit apps). I wish I could have the same number for one of each and only bring the smartphone when necessary.

Banks keeping your money safe depends on what country you live in and how much its government has regulated them and/or provided some sort of backup in the case of a run or the bank going out of business.
It's so cheap compared to any other form of transportation I just have the bike shop do a tune up every spring. So probably 150-200 per year. I ride through the winter and often need a new chain and cables in the spring because of the salt.
