    Is it that hard to understand that people don't want shit like nuclear power plants, coal plants, methane plants and garbage disposals being newly built near their home?

    I live in one of the most crowded countries on earth and even here we have plenty of space where a powerplant wouldn't be anywhere near a suburb. Or at least in a place where there is already a similar power plant/industry.

    Obviously it's a different situation if you build houses near a power plant that has been there for years.

    Also it doesn't help most celebrities moved to bluesky as well. Then there is the fact you have to choose an instance on lemmy which scares most people away.

    Like okay, maybe if you only watch memes and cat pictures I can kinda understand. But every single sub I've been in had an idiotic amount of gatekeeping. Just mentioning grapheneos in some subs could get you banned. Just mentioning luigi mangione could get you banned. Oh your post is falsely flagged as inappropriate? Banned, and good luck trying to appeal.

    It's become an absolute dystopian shithole. Lemmy isn't perfect but at least if the host of your instance goes insane you can leave for another. And if you don't like what you see you can choose to block it.

  • Even the dumbest person knows how to be kind to others. You don't have to be smart to not want to wish ill upon others.

    People vote for Trump purely because they want others to suffer more than they do. If you vote for someone who wants to deport "brown people" then you know fully he won't be kind to them. If you vote for someone who wants to punish others for doing trade then you know fully well people will suffer. If you think being gay, trans or whatever is a disease and people should be punished for it then there is something very wrong with you.

    I indeed have no sympathy for people who voted for Trump. If you voted for him you're an asshole and just want people to suffer.

    People are lazy as shit and rather swipe their credit cards and buy something new with windows than to even give Linux a chance.

    99% of people really don't give a shit about privacy or freedom when it comes to computers. Microsoft could slap handcuffs on them and point a camera at their screen (yes MS is already spying with telemetry, but try expaining that to a regular person) and they'd still use windows.
