  • This is the exact reason why I bought a good old home trainer with no internet connectivity. The computer that is on it is one of the old fashioned ones, you can disconnect it and the trainer will still work but you just can't see any readings.

    Smart products are scam products. Don't trust any manufacturer to still give support after they feel they got their moneys worth out of a product.

  • Same here. Lemmy is kinda like reddit when it wasn't shit. Mastodon is just really awkward to use.

    I kinda like Sharkey as well but the federation doesn't work with Lemmy.

  • The post itself is reasonable quality and informative so I find it upvote worthy. If a post is low quality or a shit post then I downvote.

    To me the karma system is about quality. Not an "I agree/disagree" button.

    For comments I only down vote obvious trolls, bigots/racism etc.

  • The thing is... What alternatives are there? Signal can't be trusted (on the very same website there is an article about it). I'm not using closed source alternatives, Simplex is kinda shady too tbh and I'm not even sure I could get anyone to use it.

    I don't like Matrix/Element either but sadly its the best open source chat solution we have.

    The reason the left is doing so bad is because none of the left parties want to do anything about immigration. So people vote for shitty extreme right wing parties that say they do something about it (but never do, they just lie. All they want is power and control the population).

    The left should just "say they will tackle immigration" even if they don't. The far right has been lying their asses of and no one seems to care so yeah...

  • A lot of manufacturers cheap out on the implementation, especially the budget brands from Lidl and Aldi which sometimes leads to the cap not being able to stay on anymore (the milk cartons are especially notorious, they literally break off by just opening them).

    So I do get why people get annoyed by it. I also understand that helping the environment is more important so I'm not throwing a hissyfit about it and just tear em off out of spite (I leave them on). But people are still allowed to be annoyed and have an opinion about it.

  • Most NAS (network attached storage device) have cloud capabilities. Its kinda like one drive only you host it yourself. Synology has Drive for example and even has apps for android and iOS.

    You can just save anything to it. A keepass file I just an encrypted database file. If you save it on a NAS then you can access it anywhere.

    Obviously you can also use One drive or google drive (or whatever its called nowadays). But I don't trust Microsoft or Google with my data.

  • I think 0 was a masterpiece. I love the original just as much but for different reasons.

    I love depressing anime's and dystopian fiction. 0 was just absolutely heartbreaking. When you think it can't get any worse. The scene where luka wants to prove her worth so badly and then....

    OG steins gate has a depressing setting but it balances nicely between depressing and uplifting. 0 takes your heart and steps on it.

    Reddit is reddit. You can't just go on another platform and "connect" to a subreddit.
