  • I submitted a tip with pictures of Trump and anti-choice signs all over my parents church, the property outside, as well as direct links to streamed sermons where the pastor is outright telling people if they vote Democrat they're going to hell so be a good Christian and vote for trump.

  • There's also a safety on some guns, which I personally hate, that allows you to pull the trigger, but the safety disconnects the mechanism from the pin, or blocks the pin from going forward.

    Personally I'd rather they just not allow a trigger pull at all. It's especially freaky when you get one that still moves the hammer.

    My dad also laments that the local lake doesn't freeze over like it did when he was a teenager, DRIVING on top of it with his brothers.

    Totally unrelated to climate change though. Cause that's totes fake.

    Also storms are more violent and frequent, winters are basically spring 2.0 now and the local river has flooded way past historic levels and could threaten the downtown area of their city within the decade.

  • I can't speak for the other commenter, but I'm not naive enough to think conflict just appeared out of nowhere. It's come from beefs between historic tribes and stretches back to before people wrote things down.

    It's more like "those cops were just regular people whose families were beating other people up, then someone with a lot more Big Sticks came over and told them they're now part of a special group who are the only ones allowed to beat people up and gave them a shiny gold star plaque? to prove it"

    Only instead of a gold star, it was drawing lines on a map and saying "this is yours, have fun", and pretending to not see anything negative they do after that.

  • I'm more mid-ohio, myself, and the winters have gotten much milder than they were in my childhood, unfortunately.

    My dad likes to tell stories about him and his brothers driving on a local pond in their teenage years because it froze thick enough to do so.

    It hasn't frozen over since I was in middle school.

  • I'd love for the US to go completely hands-off the middle east if only just to stop comments like this up that seem to think one country can somehow be responsible for tons of other countries meddling in the same area.

    I mean, I want that so people will stop being ripped apart by us-made explosives, tax money stops being wasted, and focus more on improving things for the people within it's own borders and making it more inclusive to outsiders, but stopping comments like that is a nice little bonus.
