Being a bodyless head with a freak long tongue is not only okay—it can be an exciting opportunity

  • Grail, noo 😭

  • I don't have any input on the mod behaviour, but, while I wouldn't think twice about the quotes if the context were different, it really does look suspicious to me in this specific context, especially around the word bigotry

  • More seriously though, cognitive behavioural theory argues that thoughts, feelings, and behaviours reinforce one another. You may have heard the term "cognitive dissonance" when it had its time in the limelight as the buzzword du jour; that's the discomfort that happens when two of those things aren't in alignment. Changing behaviour is hard, so most folks will naturally take the path of least resistance and just begin to believe differently.

We exist in an alienating system that requires unnatural behaviour in order to survive it (e.g., working a meaningless job for a wage). This is where we get the "you claim to hate capitalism, yet you participate in it- curious..." bullshit. It comes from people who can't stand that dissonance and so have defaulted to convincing themselves that capitalism must be good. The majority of people, however, don't even get that far. Even the idea of changing one's behaviour - especially behaviours practically required to survive an inherently fucked system - is off-putting. "Those who do not move, do not notice their chains."

Like others described, it's a combination of factors like learned helplessness, self-delusion, willful ignorance, and ofc the systems of propaganda/indoctrination that reinforce it. And of course, "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." Yet the folks responsible for defining pathology are entrenched in the system(s) responsible in the first place.

Side note, psychopathology is largely a weapon wielded against the proletariat, and I think we should consider not legitimizing the tools of our oppressors

  • Jesus, the second half reads like satire. It's like he fed an activist's post to an LLM and asked it to rewrite it as the opposite.

But the bigger picture here is more important. I am angry. But not at the agitators. I find myself already angry at the people who don’t understand what we’re dealing with and will do nothing about it. When I got to the suburbs I felt like I was in a simulation.

I believe the American people need to wake up. This moment is a warning about where we’re headed. Fear pushes people to care only about their money and their families—I get it. But when fear turns inward, when self-preservation and greed replace moral courage, evil goes unchallenged. And history shows that what we ignore today will come for all of us tomorrow.

Ironically and incredibly, I see that these Communists do not fear death in the same way most good people seem to. The only thing the Communists fear is exposure itself. And that’s good news because it may be our only option.

I’m dead serious about investigating the prosecutors themselves if they don’t hold these Minnesota fraudsters and violent mobsters accountable for what they’re doing.

Edit: after rereading it, I take back the LLM thing; it actually looks like he just replaced the word "Nazi" with "Communist" and "ICE" with "prosecutors" lol

  • Naturally

  • The state itself is structural, institutionalized violence. Resistance to an inherently violent system is never unprovoked

  • I understand that you may fundamentally not respect US leftists, but your participation in this community needs to reflect the rules. If that means not engaging with US leftists here, that's fine, but you can't actively disrespect them here.

Moving forward, please ensure your engagement reflects this community's spirit of socialist unity

  • I’m genuinely confused what that user is even talking about and they refuse to elaborate.

This is comforting to hear, because it very much didn't come across that way. I know that I'm not alone in this based on the community's reaction to your comments. Getting dogpiled in this community should be a cue to reflect and consider how you're coming across. I understand that that doesn't apply in lib territory (because they'll dogpile anyone further left than Biden), but please remember where you are.

You’re kinda overstepping your authority as a moderator here.

I simply reminded you of the rules. I've taken no mod action.

to invoke the rules of this community over completely legitimate questioning is not a good look for the mod team.

My invocation of the rules- if you can call it that- wasn't about your questioning, but about your behaviour. If it was just one or even two comments like that, I would've just moved on, but you were consistently disrespectful and consistently assumed bad faith

  • Your rule 1 violation goes all the way back up to you implying that they're lying. I don't feel that any of the individual comments in this exchange have been egregious enough to warrant removal, but you're being consistently antagonistic and disrespectful, and I felt that needed to be addressed.

You're right, other users are also implying bad faith on your part and aren't showing you respect, but TBH they're retaliating because you started it, and the user who called you a fed has only commented once (and also was joking, BTW).

You're behaving as if you're dunking on libs, but you're actually antagonizing good faith socialists who ought to be your comrades. The people living in the US are not a monolith. Many are engaged in PSL & DSA organizing, doing mutual aid, and practicing direct action like destroying Flock cameras, spreading agitprop, etc.

  • Rule 1. Socialist Unity in the form of mutual respect and good faith interactions is enforced here

  • unprovoked

  • capitalism can contribute a lot to growth and wellbeing

    Hmm

  • Lol this was a joke post. I left a comment elsewhere linking to the post I was making fun of

  • Sealioning.

I'm not mad, I'm disgusted and appalled. I have to assume I'm not your first victim, so I'm publicly advocating against you to protect others from your harassment. The admins have the evidence, so I have no need to post it publicly. I am not illiterate, and I can plainly see that it's you, as can the admins.

  • I'm not letting you bait me into posting screenshots, and I'm not going to let you run me off. I'm gonna be on your ass about this until I see that you're banned, so congrats if that's what you wanted.
