  • I'm curious as to why you say that as he literally used his first sponsorship to pay off his mom's mortgage and seems to come from an average standard of living.

  • Edit: I didn't see the hit piece / exposé that was made about him until now

From what I know about him, he is a genuine person, and his projects are done to help people if possible.

I know that many influencers profit off of suffering/kindness in a scummy way, but I believe that MrBeast is one of the few that actually try to do it ethically.

  • When I read Paxton, I was pleasantly surprised.

  • Your line of reasoning is like saying Igbo, Malayalam, or Algonguian doesn't exist because you haven't heard of them.

  • As a buyer, I've had to fight hard to get items returned to scammy sellers.

  • Nebula is more complex since creators own stake in the company. It is very much creator-operated, and to the best of my knowledge, the way it's structured and monetized allows many of the creators to do projects that are otherwise impossible.

  • True?

  • I get that this is an Apples to Oranges comparison, but Powershell 7 is way easier to use than the default Windows Powershell because of autocomplete. I imagine that newer versions of Bash have made improvements that are similarly powerful.

  • Why does it matter, just print stuff, supply the correct paper or material for your project, then move on.

  • I'm not an audio engineer, but this might be hard to execute.

  • I agree in that it'll be hard to transfer between platforms, but doubt it's impossible. The idea is that you don't want Valve to nuke your licenses in one go, but Valve also doesn't want you on their platform.

  • I don't think resellable licenses are a great idea. It works with physical media because it will have flaws that affect quality and price, but I don't see how that would work for digital without screwing over devs. I can completely get behind transfers or trades with friends or between platforms, but not really for resale.

  • The way I see it, Steam having DRM is Valve's way of giving publishers and devs that choice, and said choice just makes Steam more likely to stick around for the future, which makes the biggest drawback of DRM (losing all your games) less likely.

  • It isn't bash, it's Linux that's well-embedded with the rest of Windows. You can get most Linux stuff working reasonably well, and you can even get a working GUI of some distros.

  • The US Federal government no longer protects reproductive freedoms like they did a few years ago, so some states have been cracking down on procedures like abortion and using data from places like Facebook to gather evidence. Depending on the state, having this data might lead to legal headache, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

  • Why would Ukraine target Hamas?

  • Who will replace him? Michelle Obama doesn't want to run, Gavin Newsom has full support for Biden, and Kamala Harris is already VP.

  • This isn't new, and this isn't limited to oil companies. Many carbon-credit "issuers" have scummy practices, and many others are misleading despite best intentions

  • It's for a completely different purpose. This is more close to AirDrop

  • Easy

  • When most people say "free software", they're talking about software that's free as in freedom. Using it otherwise just causes unnecessary confusion.

If by "most people" you mean the general population, you are absolutely wrong. Hell, even software devs (at least in the US) would fight with you unless they themselves are interested in FOSS.

When the average Joe pays nothing for an item that they want, regardless of whether that item can be modified, they will say that the item is free. To your average Joe, software is yet another item.
