  • Oftentimes (but not always), free stuff has a lower budget and lower amounts of effort put into it by fewer people. This often results in a worse product.

  • A lot of the issues in Canada are the same as the issues in America except dialed up to 11. It is way more likely that Canada falls apart before America does.

  • Why not legally cross? It's not that hard to do so.

  • Everyone else is only talking about the scummy affiliate revenue stealing, but that's been public info for a while.

The more alarming stuff is that they partner with businesses to manage the coupon codes shown on Honey. If a business doesn't want consumers to have discounts below a certain percentage, they can remove those coupons from Honey. This means that Honey no longer does the thing that it's advertised to do, and they're getting paid affiliate revenue after lying to consumers.

  • The biggest issue that this video brings up is that businesses can filter out certain coupon codes if the discount is too high

  • That doesn't describe legislation. From what I understand, that situation is just Pelosi asking for a favor, not much else.

  • YouTube is not replaceable because it's the only reliable way for VOD creators to monetize their content effectively without a paywall. No other VOD platform comes close.

If creators can't monetize their content effectively, they're not going to upload to that platform.

  • As an American, so am I.

  • Do you have a source or something for further reading?

  • We've been working on that though, at least in blue states.

I think there's value in having US troops stationed in Mexico to fight cartels and root out corruption as long as Mexico agrees to it. I understand that this isn't what Trump is advocating for though.

  • Roast her back

  • You're suggesting turning a $15 or so YouTube bill into a $50+ Patreon bill depending on what creators they watch

  • You're acting like plenty of politicians in the West wouldn't do this if they could.

  • They aren't even disposable, so it's crazy to me how they can be sold as such.

  • As a happy Comcast customer, my old ISP still only sells plans up to 100 Mbps and it routes all traffic through a city that's over 200 miles away.

  • No, because United employees didn't beat the passenger up, the police did. That's not even remotely close to the worst thing that cops have gotten away with.

  • As an aside, I personally don't understand why people would choose Kroger over Walmart

  • You're assuming the law matters when a company can hire a team of lawyers and a solo dev can't

  • I don't see Amazon as a monopoly, but as far as Apple goes, they currently hold the majority of phone sales in the US. A big reason for that is that they have a history of artificially preventing you from using certain device features with non-Apple products or services. iMessage is a good example as it took an order from China for Apple to add the RCS messaging standard that Android phones have had for years. Another example is that, while music apps on Android can use Google Assistant features, only Apple Music can utilize Siri features on iOS.
