  • My guess is that R&D as well as third-party Steam keys eat into their margins.

It could be more sustainable with this higher fee as well. Valve supports old games for a long time whereas console manufacturers pull the plug 10 years later. You could argue that Microsoft takes only 12%, but Microsoft has the luxury of being able to exit the PC games market at any time, or they can take a loss on it indefinitely. Valve needs to survive off its PC store because it's the only thing they really have

  • SuYu is a way better name given why it was created in the first place.

  • There's nothing to change. Nano is better designed, but vi is a more powerful tool.

  • I mean a lot of idols (or rather, their management companies) try to appeal to incels, so if anything, they're the reason why these idols are so famous in the first place.

  • Neither? They're in the part of the population that don't live paycheck to paycheck and actually has a chance of retiring. The median software engineer salary is $120k in the US. The median household income is $74k. I think American software engineers are doing fine.

  • Software devs (in the US at least) make insane amounts of money.

  • Can't believe that my code is racist smh

  • You can find VGA in all sorts of colors.

  • What about when the shape is similar? What does IT have to do then?

  • Except now it's because of a patent dispute instead of "because I said so!"

  • What alternative do you suggest that will be effective enough to not alienate children with parents who refuse to listen or think rationally?

  • No amount of reasonable legislation can force parents to teach this stuff. Doing it through schools is infinitely easier.

  • A toxic community won't help you in good faith when you're running into issues, and this makes it harder to develop using a language with a toxic community.

  • AFAIK in the US, the police usually reach out to victims and ask if they would like to press charges. Does this not happen in Canada? It would probably make victims more motivated to file reports.
