  • It's resistant, though, specifically because you can fork it. Don't like where things are going? Like the features of a previous version? Fork that version and run with it.

It does mean extra work for somebody to maintain that forked version, but the option is nonetheless there.

  • That won't matter. VPNs typically use a known set of IPs, and services like Reddit that are run by surveillance capitalism companies simply block those known ranges (see also YouTube, for example).

  • I don't use it, but I knew someone who did, and for them, it was about min/maxing their software. Because everything is built from source, everything is optimized for their specific system in theory.

I'm not aware of any comparisons on speed, but I would suspect that it's negligible in real world use cases, but it's still important for some.

  • Thanks for that. Unfortunately, it did not clarify the meme in any way, but at least I learned a thing.

  • What's a "third wave starseed?"

  • Cool, and I bet it will be just as trustworthy as WhatsApp (i.e. not at all).

  • I mean, what did they expect, building a foundation of toxic masculinity/incel goobers?

  • It's one of their best pieces of software, hands down

  • It will not coerce Trump and his mob to behave, no. He'd be just as happy to piss on anyone who doesn't kiss his ring.

What it does, however, is embolden the people. I don't know if you have been to one of these protests, but not only do you get to be around people who care in the same way you do, a wonderful encouragement in its own right, but it's a great way to get connected with local groups who are doing more.

On top of that, we're seeing politicians like MTG stepping a toe out from MAGA, purely because their instinct for self-preservation (of power) sees the winds of change. Their policies are despised across the board, and they know their time is borrowed.

So I do agree that protest is not enough on its own, but I disagree that change won't happen as a result. More is happening at local levels that the news isn't covering.

  • Based on my rough guesstimate, you would be able to use about a 1" x 2" (2.54cm x 5.08cm) piece of 20ga silver to make something that's about 3.8g. You could possibly go thinner up to 24ga, which would give you more to work with, but I wouldn't go beyond that; you might run the risk of deformation with use, otherwise.

Good luck! Smithing is fun, no?

  • "Should they?" No. Games are a form of art, and they have no obligation to be anything more than what they are.

That said, if their goal is to reach as many players as possible, they will miss out on a (likely) growing demographic by excluding PvE, especially if the framework is already there. Many people have no interest in duking it out with sweaty tryhards, and even if a game is lucky not to have those types, there's still people who make it their mission to grief others whenever possible.

So I don't think they "should," but it's shortsighted not to.

  • It would be a massive improvement if we treated their crimes like fraud and theft, but it's nice to dream.

  • Excellent cooler. I prefer the Phantom Spirit, but the Peerless Dough Hook is pretty good, too.

  • I love that this exists

  • You can't update your system files with flatpak.

  • If we Americans can't sensibly regulate ourselves, seems like the reasonable thing to do.

  • I sometimes just use the touchscreen to type, when I'm feeling lazy.

  • I don't care to look it up, but I would suspect that Valve has a patent on their trackpads in the context of a handheld console. It might be difficult or impossible for anyone else to try to utilize the same concept.

  • Won't somebody think of the poor lobbyists‽ /s
