  • This is about the time where all the Cold War reserves run out. From now on, its just what Russia can build new, and thanks to years of sanctions, that's not much.

  • The article really should have covered some basic economy.

The US consumer and factories are paying the US government 15 cents on every dollar of product they import from the EU.

That's annoying for the EU, because it will mean fewer exports to the US. But it's WAY worse for the US.

And on top of that, it's really not so bad for the EU, all in all, the tariffs are lower than for many others, meaning that we might actually sell more. Of course, that's assuming the US keeps imports steady, which they won't, because prices will go up and thus demand goes down.

  • And it's costing US companies a shitload of money, not just directly to the government on tariffs, but also in lost sales.

  • Which brings us to just one of those bizarre US things, "artificial flavor" versus "natural flavor" is totally arbitrary and random. It's based on which molecule, not what the source is,

But, that's sensible. If it's the chemical you find in raspberry, then its natural raspberry flavor. If it's something we invented or discovered that's like raspberry, its artificial. Who cares if it came from a bioreactor?

will kill you if you touch them in pure form without the proper protective gear,

While I wouldn't recommend eating concentrated artificial flavours, touching them won't kill you. Unless you jump into the reactor, but jumping into one would kill you no matter what the substance inside is.

  • Chainsaws are fast, imagine doing it with a manual saw

  • And the maxim gun is still in use today. Not new ones, mind you, the ones from his lifetime.

  • Note that this Obesity (BMI over 30). 76% of the US is overweight (BMI over 25)..

  • It gets much worse when you look at the outliers. 9.4% of the US had severe obesity (BMI>40) in 2023.

The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany are around 1%, I couldn't even find a number for France that was more than "<1%".

  • Language works by majority consent though.

  • it helps with understanding some British accents which can be tricky for non-natives.

There are native Londoners from the west of London who have trouble understanding the native Londoners from the east of London and vice versa

  • He smells like blue barrels

  • The observations are a fact, the 2nd part is a possible explanation that you could call an opinion.

Is it possible the 'higher-skilled", again an opinion, players have a different common factor? Like maybe age.

Ok, but that doesn't change it

  • This is why mechanization is such an advantage in modern warfare and how it is almost shocking the degree to which Russia seems to be ignoring that reality.

They're not. They're very much aware of the massive shortcoming. That's why we've seen BMP3s get swapped for BMP2s ans BTRs, then for BMP1, MTLBs and then trucks and civilian trucks and now dirtbikes and running shoes.

There's a big difference between ignoring reality, and being unable to change it. Sanctions have been hitting hard, this is what we see when you run out of the machinetools to build the machines to build military gear.

  • And friends with matching ones

  • According to wikipedia it was already a known term in the 1860's. But that's a hundred years after the industrial revolution started. Still a damn long time though.

  • The ideology of being aware of structural social injustices?

  • I won't live it, my kids will. Good luck kids!

One of the many reasons I didn't have kids.

  • This justifies every penny spent on AI

  • I like this, but I prefer Cthulhu with its strong-but-somehow-possible statblock that also lists as as damage "1D4 investigators (player characters) per round".
