  • I never got banned. I just left because the greedy little CEO is a liar that sacrificed the only thing that made the site good, 3rd party apps, on the alter of the almighty dollar during the API debacle.

To be honest the quality of posts, comments, and moderation policies had gone way down hill since at least 2020. The killing of 3rd party apps just gave me the motivation to finally leave

  • I don’t know if we want users who can’t grasp the concept that Lemmy and Lemmy.world are different entities and thinks that all of Lemmy should just be Lemmy.com

I think just having a Lemmy branded app with a proper UX is a good thing but let’s not just throw the baby out with the bathwater chasing people who just want Lemmy to be Reddit but it doesn’t make them feel yucky using it.

  • Sad to hear Louis is having family issues

  • Better than finding their other hub account, amiright?

  • I’ll use my 13 mini until I literally can’t anymore. Sadly it seems like maybe Apple will release a clamshell to get back to the pocketable size but never a mini phone again. Wish the 16e used a mini chasis

  • At least on the iPhone side the 12 and 13 mini were full flagships in a smaller form factor. I just wish we could go back to that

  • Every action is public in the mod log so I don’t think shadow bans are possible although you might not know to check the mod logs in the moment

  • What a breakdown about Tony Hawk games. Thanks for sharing.

  • Crash Trilogy.

    Spyro Trilogy.

Tekken (I’d get Tekken 3 if I were you)

    Crash Team Racing

    FFVII

Tony Hawk Pro Skater (the first one is the only one exclusive to PlayStation 1, THPS 2 and 3 came out on PS2)

    Syphon Filter

    Metal Gear Solid

    Medal of Honor

    Driver 2

    Gex 2

    Tomb Raider

  • Essential game if you are playing with an original dual shock for sure

  • I’ve enjoyed Pixelfed a lot more than I thought I would. I feel like the same principle applies to follow tags that you are interested in to make sure you feed has content that interests you. A lot of the same content surfaces on both my mastodon and Pixelfed accounts as I follow the same hashtags on both. I did discover a few accounts on Pixelfed that I wouldn’t have if I just stayed on Mastodon though.

My biggest gripes with Pixelfed is that the app sucks. And the content I’d be most interested in seeing (pictures of my friends and family) aren’t on there. Probably because of reason 1 and because meta platforms aren’t as a big of pain point for them as they are for me

  • Based on the post title I thought someone made a sim game of what it’d be like to run your own Lemmy Instance lol

  • She’s a kid, you are hardly an adult. Just be kind, the things you are going through she can’t really understand at that age. And the things that a big deal to her, aren’t that big of a deal for you.

When you both are older and more mature you will hopefully just remember that you were kind and not the teenage drama that comes with adolescence and finding your place in the world.

  • He’s fine. His videos come off as a bit whiny. The stance of pirating content as being justified instead of just abstaining from an unsatisfactory service seems entitled to me but I get it. I think he’s mostly right in his analysis of things, I don’t make it through every video that he posts though

  • I’ve subscribed. Thanks for posting it despite the chilly reception

  • Yes why do you think they make you pay with your card or Walmart app if they can help it? So they can track your purchases

  • And so at small stores ran by local owners who can’t afford surveillance equipment and aren’t obsessed with profit

  • At least Lemmy is open source and there isn’t any advanced analytics running and telling server operators exactly what you look at and for how long. And if there was, it would be discovered quickly and you could host your own instance and only look at content locally.

Your posts aren’t private. But that’s the whole point so that they can be seen and federated

  • I disagree that Reddit has good content but even bad content is better than no content for communities that haven’t been built here yet
