  • An advertised top speed of 80 means that, assuming you have ideal road conditions, tire conditions, are on a flat road, have no wind, and a long distance to get up to speed, you will hover at 78. There are plenty of places with a 65 mph speed limit, wind, and a big hill. Besides, most people will occasionally exceed the speed limit to "overtake traffic".

  • I am not saying it is right, but many people online demand that their EV be able to go much more than 200 miles/charge. I am not sure if that is a majority opinion or just a very vocal minority.

  • The Chinese cars that are half price don't include any safety features, have a theoretical top speed of 80 mph, and a battery range of 100 miles. Those ones would never make it to the US even without tariffs.

  • But that only works for untrusted code escaping a sandbox, right? It does not help with malicious code embedded into legitimate seeming apps. The later vector seems easier, especially on Android, no?

  • AI is the future, unfortunately we are eternally stuck in the present.

  • Ok, but why? If I want news, I will look at a news site. I want tweets and videos, I almost always want content from the creators that I subscribe to.

  • That is how DDG search works as well. They take your search query and send it to a regular, data harvesting search engine. The engine does not see your IP address and cannot track you with a cookie but they can monitor the search queries of DDG users in aggregate.

  • That makes sense. Sorry, I grew up in a school system where recess stops after the fifth grade.

Also, you mentioned that lack of coat was a problem for lunch? I assume that means that your cafeteria only had outdoor seating. How did that work when it was raining or very windy?

  • Maybe it is because I am used to a colder climate, but how did you come to school without outerwear? Did your parents not notice the temperature in the morning and put a jacket on you?

  • Why a land tax? Many (most? all?) towns and cities have a real estate tax.

You forgot long term capital gains tax. There is no reason that the investor class should be paying a flat 15% tax. Critics will quickly jump up to say that we need to incentivise people to make long term investments in businesses, which I agree with, so short term capital gains should be taxed like gambling winnings.

Also, minimum wage can be addressed with a one time bump and after that, make tax brackets, 401k contribution limits, etc. multiples of the federal minimum wage.

  • Douglas Adams is undoubtedly one of the greatest writers of the period.

He is known for light, surrealistic science fiction comedy, not a genre generally considered "high art" but his mastery of language is superb. He is a master of analogies in a way that is both funny but also makes the reader think about the roles and conventions of symbolism in language.

  • Right, I forgot that LinkedIn calls contacts "connection", doesn't it? I meant it in the sense of messaging them.

I have it for talking to past coworkers (in case I need a reference or want to discuss equity or something) and for talking to recruiters when I am looking for a job. My past two jobs I heard about via LinkedIn messages.

  • LinkedIn is one of the few sites where I use my real name. It is for connecting with past and future coworkers, so they get my real identity.

  • As someone born in the Russia, I support Zelensky looking at the old borders of the Kievan Rus.

  • Sorry to poo poo the wholesomeness, but you should not be selling your possessions to buy an engagement ring. You should be buying a ring that is within your income to afford. An engagement ring is definitely one of those "it's the thought that counts" purchases. If it is not, that is a massive red flag.

  • I have heard good things about Flesh and Blood TCG. From what I understand, the story behind it is similar to Pathfinder: a WotC partner got pissed at WotCs shenanigans and decided to make their own game.

There are also a ton of great non-collectible deck construction games. Unfortunately, they tend to fail fairly quickly because it is not profitable for local stores to host events. If you want a Magic-like one, I recommend Epic Card Game. It has a free-to-start app for Android, iOS, PC and possibly Mac.

  • I have come across a couple digital CCGs. Not sure if they are any good.

Also, sorry to be a "well actually" guy, but Pokemon TCG was always designed by The Pokemon Company. WotC just licensed the rights to translate the game.

  • YouTube pays the uploader, who double promises that they totally have the the right to the song.
