The western media and politicians can't cite statistics because then they'd have to address the obvious comparisons. If the indigenous minority people of Xinjiang speak Uyghur and learn it in school to the tune of 90% attainment or higher (and climbing), then why do only 15% of Native Americans speak their indigenous languages at home, and why do only 50% of Navajo people speak Diné, and why are we expected to view the first one as an ongoing cultural genocide, whereas the other is this dirty little secret that westerners are nervous to talk about?
The atrocity propaganda against China is in really poor taste actually, because these facile comparisons to settler colonialism / white supremacy in the Americas conveniently leave out one of the most important factors imo, which is you had English-speaking colonists move across a whole-ass ocean to settle in a country where they had no previous connection or history, whereas Xinjiang, Tibet, etc. have direct contact and settlement going back millenia and public policy that makes a commitment to cultural preservation. Even if the accusations of Han supremacy and settler colonialism etc. were sound, it's not the same thing as whites going halfway around the world to completely take over entire continents.
Mainly because it's just allegations without evidence and circular reporting all the way down. You're looking at anti-China propaganda, funded to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars every few years by the anglo-American governments and arms industries. BBC is one of the main offenders in terms of pumping out these allegations as fact. It's state media and the British government wants its subservient China back.

I feel you about Andor. The main character didn't have a whole lot in common with young Stalin, people were definitely hyping up that aspect so it was inevitably gonna be disappointing. People were making it sound like actual Marxism in star wars, lol. I still enjoyed it but I kind of had to choose to enjoy it, if that makes sense, still haven't watched the second season.
