  • For real, all my TVs are Sceptre. They are not easy to find, but they are incredibly reasonably priced and completely dumb perfection.

If people like us make them popular enough, maybe they'll realize this is a lucrative niche market.

  • She probably has an odontoma that redirected the eruption of her adult teeth.

    Or is a vampire.

  • Pff, I don't trust Apple to be able to get Siri to do shit.

  • I drew the line at Windows 10. It was bad enough. 11 was a bridge too far. I basically quit 4 months ago and wiped my last Windows machine today. I just made a post about it!

For anyone on the fence, do it!

  • Yes! And I would like to add, I've never been able to get the scanner to work on my printer from Windows. I always had to scan to a usb stick on the printer itself and then carry it to wherever I wanted.

Linux: just worked. Got done setting up the printer and it asked me if I wanted to set up the scanner too, it hadn't even occurred to me.

  • The single largest reason we've been living with inflation for 6 years now is this assclown getting interest rates to near zero in his last term. It's also why homes are completely out of reach now and if he gets the rates back down, homes will be "back in reach" in the name of debt slavery only and what follows will be even worse, which will get blamed on the next Democrat in office.

    Ah yes, a freefall indeed.

  • Yeah, I'm floored myself. To be fair, I haven't strayed from using it with Steam VR, so I can't speak to anything else, but it was literally plug and play. Elite's graphics were jumpy but all I did to "fix" it was change the quality in the game settings to "VR Ultra" and it was better than it ever was on Windows immediately. I'm gonna do Alyx sometime this week.

  • I did try it (and Geany, and etc), but it didn't have the ability to "save as to ftp" which is a stupid thing to get hung up on, but I'm stuck in a groove with how I do certain tasks in web dev. This was before I realized you could mount a server like a drive in the File Manager (another awesome Linux thing I didn't know I needed in my life), so I may go back and try it again, but since I got Notepad++ working fine and I'd have to port over all my syntax highlighting I'm not really motivated.

  • Oh yeah, I'm lucky in this regard. I became a (partial) Mac user back in 2002 when my company gave me a MacBook and told me all the stuff we were building had to work on Mac (educational software). I was always a Sonar guy - going way back. Sonar basically died so I was forced to start over and I was looking at Ableton and others but I decided to go with Logic because I had a spare Mac that could handle it just laying around. So I've been a Logic on Mac user since 2018.

But yeah, I can see how if you use tools like Ableton it would be a real impediment to switching.

  • Too true but I think their success, their actual success - as measured by desirable outcomes for Russia and the world it creates for itself to exist in - is far from certain.

Russian leadership has this bizarre sense of manifest destiny, an unflagging idea that destabilizing the dogshit out of everything everywhere (the "success" you refer to - because yeah, they're killing it) somehow can only lead to good outcomes for Russia and not the reverse. That's far from certain. Shit, if history is anything to go by, it's strangely arrogant hubris.

  • Meh, I don't think it could work this way. Infinite time without constant novel experience would just devolve into incomprehensible white noise in both action and reaction. Honestly, I think we're already in the infinite simulation and we're either being fed novel experience or we're feeding ourselves novel experience in order to cope. Not sure. Can't be sure. Right now I just wish I could get my truck working.

  • Also, you can "install" things like Discord into a webapp and when you launch it it looks and behaves just like regular old discord, but never makes you wait through those annoying installation screens.

  • This is exactly it, it's a shakedown and Trump and the party of fiscal responsibility will see to it that yet more corporations get hundreds of billions in government largess. But boy, they sure extracted that 1 bil from PBS, so I guess they're on point.

  • What's she on about? Lemme guess, it's X, so I'm gonna guess she's sad that lesbians exist to get shot in the face by the government.

  • I'm not certain I understand... I make a lot of bread too and partly because it's cheap, but also partly because it's awesome. I'm focused on sourdough at the moment, it's been a long trip.

I am unsure of what the "new" pyramid is trying to say, because it says nothing. Very strange, though not, I suppose, coming from the barely literate fuckheads running HHS now.

It sounds like you're struggling pretty hard, good on you you make your own bread. Fresh vegetables and fruit are still fairly reasonable, particularly if you do local farmer's markets. I recently posted about how using dried beans instead of canned is a real money saver (a pound of navy beans is like, $1.20 - and loads of good protein).

I am also quite focused on foraging right now. I hope it doesn't come to it, but if it should, I'd like to be as prepared as possible. Knowing what edible wild plants exist around you is very valuable, and can be a fun hobby for those bent that way.

  • Trump also said in 2024 that the military budget could be cut in half and oh look, just today, we can see how that went.

He's full of shit, utterly deranged and I'll believe any of it when I fucking see it.

  • I was in the middle of making a reply like this but yours is better. Closed as duplicate.
