I just wish these platforms wouldn’t attract people like that. I get he is after a life changing amount of money no doubt, but 600k is a comfortable living by any metric.
Thank goodness for this decentralized stuff now. Communities are important, especially for the marginalized in society. There is a potential good in social technology without jerks with ad budgets and AI delusions of grandeur
This is what I worry about. If I’m on a list for accessing porn, what’s to stop them from seeing I like to watch gay porn? Then I’m on the gay list. Wrong government comes in and now I’m in more danger than I already am just for simply existing different from church approved heterosexual behavior.
I don’t want kids watching porn/violence for what it’s worth. Surely there is a privacy respecting aspect to this issue, but ID for access is a dangerous precedent
All the YouTubers and companies engage in SEO and sanitize the content until it’s ad friendly. I just wish it was human friendly like what made them big in the first place
This unfortunately is location dependent for now, but I do think we will have charging stations everywhere like gas stations now eventually. If anything the electric engines are just really efficient and not moving to them means cars are not as good.
I made a case to my employer. Most companies that have fleet vehicles could easily switch to electric with less maintenance cost/downtime right now.
I would say a bigger hurdle to adoption is infrastructure. Fast charging isn’t quite up to par with a gas pump and not everyone owns a house to top off the very night. Insurance apparently is more expensive too.
I’d love to have an electric vehicle, but as I’ve aged a walkable living location is more ideal. Decent public transport huge plus.
So in practice I believe a person should be allowed to gamble within reason. That being said the gambling business seems built on exploiting the end user and enabling/proliferating addiction.
I’m hoping it settles down like legal weed did. It will always have the client base but the newness will wear off hopefully.
That ain’t no joke. Pisses me off that information is gatekept and shopwalled. Almost rverything off the net is monetized, why does cyberspace need the same treatment?
The biggest problem I have with “smart tv”s is the fact that nearly ALL of them lag to some extent. Doesn’t matter if it’s a remote press, switching an input, even turning the thing off has some amount of delay.
That’s one change I’m making from my Reddit days. For a community to succeed it has to build, and I’ve already found some cool people!
