  • I think I've found a solution. Matlab has implemented symunits in the symbolic toolbox and I've found the original? on Github. Hopefully it is compatible to GNU Octave.

  • With symbolic variables J, s and W, the Ws won't be converted to J automatically.

  • Gnuplot would usually be the first that comes into my mind. However, it's command line only.

Labplot does not only have a GUI, it also integrates well into the KDE desktop environment.

  • Thanks for asking. I'm using Debian and didn't know either. :p

  • I know, but NK politically isn't that far away from PRC.

I recall a statement from an article I've read several years ago on the presentation of Will Scott, a professor who has been in NK, at 31C3 2014.

When Scott gained root access, he found a program inaccessible to normal users that allowed the convenient setup of encrypted data carriers. "That's interesting if you need an AES-encrypted data carrier that the NSA is guaranteed not to have tampered with," joked Scott.

  • Red Star OS ftw.

  • Nice. Both versions easily get stuck in the head.

  • The linked article is really helpful in learning why Raising Elephants IS Utterly Boring ;-)

  • It's often useful to specify the version though. The current version of Linux Mint is 21.3 Virginia and based on Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish, where the first part, Jammy, is the codename of the Ubuntu release. So "Mint 21.3", "Mint Virginia", "Ubuntu 22.04", "Ubuntu Jammy" or even "Debian Bookworm" should be helpful when querying a search engine.

As I'm German and the German Ubuntu-Community has a really good unofficial Wiki which is really helpful for setting things up or just rummage around, I can't say much about the English pendants for Mint or Ubuntu.

  • It might be that it is just asking weather to replace modified configuration files by the default new config file provided by the updated package or keep the old, modified, one.

  • User name checks out. Have fun with Linux Mint!

  • Is the browser selection on Windows no longer required in EU?

  • I don't know how it came into my luggage either.

  • It's within a root shell (#).

  • Tbf,

opening up its source code to enable collaborative development

sounds already close to open-source, though it isn't necessarily, as the licence that is used matters.

  • You could still enter the URL manually if you are concerned.

  • According to the official AppDB in winehq.org, getting this to work seems to be strongly dependent on the specific version.
