  • Even in AI, trump just cheats. His chips are never the same each frame. Also, bwhahahhaha, i like this.

  • Yeah, sorry. Nerded out there for a sec on description. I don’t remember the lag that much, doom was ok. I think we all upgraded to 10Base-T ethernet (you remember the bnc stuff) after playing quake and host tended to have the gaming advantage. A few of us worked at a pc repair shop, so we could source (aka borrow) the parts if we couldn’t afford to buy them.

A few laters Quake world came out, someone finally popped for a hub and we all had 100mbit cards installed. But around then, we got @HOME in my neighborhood and gamespy was my new friend. I hated hauling my whole setup once a month after a year or so.

  • Token Ring is a network protocol where a token—a small data packet—circulates around a ring topology, allowing only the device holding the token to transmit data, thus avoiding collisions. We played Doom and Quake.

  • Does anyone remember the exit came command? Legit done playing this release, it’s not fun anymore.

Seriously, 20 years from now we’ll all look back at this and go “wow, that was some crazy shit”

  • I remember getting a copy of linux from my friends at a local LAN party (though it was tokenring party for us) around ‘96. 2 floppy disks. I’m 99% sure it was slackware.

  • Yes, that’ll slow them down… they are obligated to delete everything too… yep, totally gonna do it.

  • Oh, good. I was worried we might actually get to keep a platform free of garbage. Whew. Can’t wait for all those conspiracy nuts to join in too!

Seriously, if someone would just off Putin, that’d be great. Let Russia fall into a little civil war as smaller leaders fight amongst themselves for the scraps.

  • Atheist here, we apparently love to eat babies. tune in Tuesday for recipes.

  • +1 for cloudflare. But I don’t use their tunnel products, I just expose my ports to only their known IPs. With cloudflare you have a nice “free” waf in front with tls that points to a secure(nginx proxy) or unsecured docker container. Audiobookshelf is a great example. Is best to use their dns product too, for easy management of your public facing sites.

  • I hate to add to the conspiracy, but I know my eye doctor uses a 3rd party which has sections of their hipaa privacy acceptance which allows them to use your info to sell you ads if you don’t decline. Phreesia, is the 3rd party company. Now add the other apps that track your location… time spent there…

and I know my grocery store does the same when you use the discounts. and worse, they have facial recognition so I can’t even opt out (kroger).

Your issue was likely a combo of that.

  • I figure the solstice would be a far better tradition to bring back. Party twice a year? Peak and summer the low of winter. Sign me up

  • My divorce was the second best thing to happen to me. First was my Ex, informing me she was getting married again 4 more days). I will end up paying 8 months of alimony (maintenance) and no longer owe her anything ever again.

  • Yeah…. I wasn’t quiet. Heh. Super trumper cousins left in tears that the “left” was destroying our Christian country as barraged them with the anti-Christian things they did daily. The rest of the family decided to drop the topic since there were “equal” sides to the arguments. Christmas was actually good, once the obnoxious ones left.

    I will not be silenced

  • This hits the feels. I was 15 when my parents divorced. I was crushed. My younger sister however, was giddy. Not because she thought the divorce was cool, but because her best friend told her that after her parents divorced, she got 2 really amazing christmases with expensive gifts that tried to outshine the other parent. Oh, but not us… we were poor. Reality hit next year for her, when my mom couldn’t afford food, let alone gifts.
