  • Carriers lock their bootloaders, regardless of phone. So make sure 100% on a test phone for the carrier, like at one of their stores, that you can unlock thr bootloader before assuming.

  • If you dont care about permissions, use NFS. If you need protected shares, use SMBv3, force blocking of SMBv1 protocol.

    I have a mix of both NFS and SMBv3 shares between NAS, Windows 11, Ubuntu, and MacOS machines. It can be done, not too difficult unless you are trying to mount things weird in proxmox or something.

  • If you force turn off SMBv1, should work with win10/11

    I have a mix of nfs and smbv3 shares with linux, mac, windows machines. Use nfs for video/music sharing for all. SMBv3 for protected private files.

  • Yeah i wanted to do that too but to drive the 21 miles to work, one way, is 35-45 minutes with "normal" traffic and leaving at slow traffic times. So literally wasting 1 to 1.5 hours driving for chilling in office for a few minutes seems ridiculous. So if i drove in i would stay at least 2-3 hours.

  • I have a video recording of the ceo in a company wide meeting saying he will not enforce rto as that ship already sailed and wr will stay remote. Then 2 months later, enforces rto in email selectively to people that are within 25 miles of an office. I then asked him and gave him the video asking him about why he lied and have a screenshot of his dumbass resppnse about things shifting and blah blah. Took him 10 minutes to write his 6 sentence long paragraph. God what a twat.

  • Podman and Proxmox is your answer. Both are great for everything you will ever need virtually. No reason to choose one or the other, just how you are going to configure your setup.
