  • We have a rule on the book that interprets the public interest standard that says ‘news distortion’ is something that is prohibited

    Unbelievable. Nobody tell Fox News

  • True good call

  • Hes basically the most left person in US government

  • I disagree. I exclusively browse /all and not subs for discovery of new communities. I would miss out on so much if I never used all. How else do you even find a community to sub to? I just manually block anything I dislike. I think it's a better system than subs, personally.

  • It's a different frontend with different features. You could be reading this very post on a Piefed instance instead of a Lemmy instance. Ditto for kbin.

  • The article starts by stating

eines musste man ihm zugestehen: Der charismatische ultrarechte Influencer hat nie zu Gewalt gegen politische Gegner aufgerufen.

    In English:

One thing you had to acknowledge him for: the charismatic ultra-right influencer has never called for violence against political opponents.

Which is absolutely false. Sad to see that the right-wing whitewashing propaganda of Charlie has influenced international media.

  • I don't use Java these days, but stuff like 'public static void main(String[] args)' actually helped me as a novice programmer to understand the structure of these languages. Abstracting it away makes things less complicated to learn for newbies but in doing so they sort of learn less.

  • "And it says, by the way, Ms. Rachel, might want to crack open that Bible of yours, in a lesser referenced part of the same part of scripture is in Leviticus 18, is that thou shall lay with another man shall be stoned to death. Just saying. So, Ms. Rachel, you quote Leviticus 19, love your neighbor as yourself. The chapter before affirms God’s perfect law when it comes to sexual matters"

I dont get it, he literally advocated for stoning gays, calling it "God's perfect law"

  • It's relevant right now as they want to call people on the left domestic terrorists and blame them for Kirk's death. Good to remind them they thought it was worth mocking when it was used on them. Not that they would appreciate that

  • I love LOST, top to bottom. The social experience of its original airing will also never be repeated.

  • Great answer. Weeds went on for so long and was only interesting for like one season. And it went nowhere

  • Hypothetically I wonder if it would be possible for Lemmy to federate some kind of hashed version of your private blocklist, such that no one could decode the accounts it references, but at post-time a username could be checked against the list and blocked from replying?

  • Sonarr lets you create a list of TV shows you want, and it automatically searches for episodes from sources you specify (eg. Bittorrent, Usenet) and passes them to your download client(s), and organizes all of the media files.

Radarr does the same thing for movies.

You manage them both with a web interface. Installing and setting them up requires technical steps, but there are guides.

  • This is silly. Seinfeld was one of the most influential comedians of all time, even if hes an asshole.

  • During MSNBC’s coverage of Kirk’s shooting, anchor Katy Tur asked Dowd about “the environment in which a shooting like this happens.” Dowd responded with the following about Kirk: “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
