  • The extreme depression and anxiety exhibited by women in the 1950s contradicts your claim.

  • So the people who hate Trump the most get military training and combat experience. That could end the same way it did for Salazar.

  • Just because it hasn't happened before does not mean it can't happen in the future.

  • You're suggesting Kim Jong Un doesn't play video games all day also?

  • I'm obviously siding with the strikers here. This state of emergency is totally bananas.

  • Well. If there's nothing identifying them as an arm of the state, it's legal to shoot them in self defense should they try to kidnap you. You can also say that the law doesn't matter anymore as the US government is flagrantly violating it but that also means that the law no longer has legitimacy as the government is breaking it's end of the social contract. Therefore, normal morality in the absence of law applies which says that self defense is legitimate.

  • Indeed.

  • The half heartedness of the military in this parade suggests that they will be half hearted in their enforcement of the regime too. This would make it much easier to resist and overthrow the regime (or at least enforce rule by mass civil disobedience) as large sections of the military are likely to make only a token effort to suppress it.

  • Stalin was still a capitalist. What he did was eliminate the competition in a particular violent way.

  • The National Guard should release all arrested protesters, return to base and tell the Governor of California that they are "reporting for duty". If not, they are traitors (already before but then even more so).

  • Yes

  • Oof. Then the old law was insane and this is a much greater correction than I thought.

  • I think some people are getting confused and are thinking it's about signing a consent form (if I understand correctly from the comments), but actually prosecutors would still have to prove that consent did not happen. Sex without consent was already sexual assault under the previous law so what will change is the crime one can be charged with for a certain act and (presumably) the maximum sentence.

  • How does this law change the burden of proof?

  • Common sense. Don't know why that's not the law already everywhere but better late than never.

  • Time to make that a reality.

  • The issue with that oa that they would then lose the support of the bourgeoisie and so could get coup-ed.
