  • Tried twisting first. Didn't work lol. It was very stubborn. I'm still using the CPU rn so it ended fine.

  • I have an AM4 CPU, and legitimately suction lifted the CPU out of the socket entirely on accident. I was changing heatsinks, and the CPU came with the darn thing. I had to pry it off with a knife.

  • why would you assume it’s safe?

They didn't assume it was safe? They thought maybe it was and asked to double check...

  • I assume many on Lemmy face similar situations and also switched to Lemmy because of a similar reason I don't know that I've actually seen someone admit that they're on Lemmy because they were banned from Reddit.

Most people just don't like Reddit for some reason or another. Pretty sure Lemmy as a whole gained a lot of population when Reddit did their API changes- that's when I joined Lemmy. I used Baconreader for years, and I refused to swap to their dogshit mobile app.

  • From some perspectives, those are the same things. Those perspectives suck, but they exist.

  • ...no? Why would the judge care if you were old when you were driving drunk?

  • Not everyone has a giant pool of existing options, and not everyone initially presents as an asshole.

Sometimes you just gotta figure out who's a shithead at the table, and get rid of the bad eggs.

  • Yeah, the only source I can find for something like this is aside from dense academic papers I'm not qualified to read is https://www.swedishmatch.com/Snus-and-health/Research-on-snus/Cancer/

Which is.. uh, not exactly a reliably source on the topic since they're a Swedish company that makes Snus. And they don't even mention that Sweden has removed the warnings.

That part of the page was added by some anonymous user- it just lists an IP, not a username- on October 9th. So I'm gonna go with not believing this one unless a Swedish person pops up to confirm.

  • They're supposed to keep their lights on under 10000ft. They're less for the pilots, at least aside from takeoff/landing, and more for other planes.

Idk why that specific configuration was chosen- to pull double duty, I guess? They're functionally landing lights, but also warning lights if they're low/in crowded airspace.

I just googled the question, and looked around a bit so it's possible this is wrong.

  • The point of Terraria is very much not building things- though you can- and it wouldn't be great for this. Building something that looked like a bar would be a ton of effort and you wouldn't really be able to just go there and get a beer. Drinking it would also just give you a buff.

Maybe Minecraft but I don't think it's the vibe OP wants, and you still couldn't really do more than make an area that looks like a bar without mods.

  • I deadass have been ID'd a single time since growing a beard- when I decided to try shaving it. It's real lol.

  • I hate when games launch directly into a cutscene. Let me change my graphics, turn on subtitles, change the audio, etc.

  • The only game I can think of that doesn't actually require a restart is Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries. I'm sure there's more, but that's what I've encountered.

  • First, I'm not an electrician, or anything even vaguely approaching one.

I've never heard that advice with extension cords, only power strips.

You could theoretically link enough extension cords together to cause problems, but it would need to be some extremely shit extension cords or a LOT of them. Resistance increases over distance, which in power cables manifests as them getting hotter. That isn't a problem until all the sudden it is a problem.

For power strips, the main danger is that you're potentially introducing more outlets than any of them are rated for. If you're just using 2 3ft power bars to functionally make a 6ft cable that you're only plugging a single thing into.. you're fine. Or at least I was, idk I did it for like a whole year. If you're plugging 16 things into a single wall outlet via power strips you can trip the circuit breaker, or potentially much worse stuff can happen like things getting melty and starting a fire.

If you know enough of what you're doing to math out the power draw+what your outlet/power strips are rated for you can pretty (afaik) safely daisy chain them if you wanna.

  • My brain just autocorrected it, I guess. My b.

  • Did you even read the OP or have they changed it?

  • I started with PF1E, so 5E kinda feels.. overly simple at times lol

  • Depends on your system. I've not actually played a TTRPG where that's how crits worked. I believe that's how it works in PF2E, though, which I really wanna try. Just can't manage to convince the nerds I play with.

  • It's not ideal, but in a pinch: yes.
