  • Again the angry boy complaining about the imaginary invasion of Taiwan!!

  • That's a lot of words to say "I'm very angry at the imaginary invasion of Taiwan".

  • Care to explain what you mean?

  • "Ableism is cool when I disagree with the person"

  • For reference (I'm a Spaniard so maybe this isn't representative): by far the most famous explicitly leftist band of the past 10 years is La Raíz, and one of their most famous songs, "Jilgueros", on the lyrics explicitly talks about "que apunte al cielo quien quiera ser cazador de buitres", (point up to the sky whoever wants to be a hunter of vultures, vultures being capitalist owners and a reference to the so-called "Fondos Buitre" or Vulture Investment Funds in Spain).

The Luigi thing is an example, but you obviously will accept that "Eat the Rich" is a very popular sentiment among western progressives and support for AES is not

  • It might be my biased sample from the people I interact with IRL (I live in Spain) and on the internet, but out of all self-declared leftists and progressives, a vast majority support Luigi and use slogans like "eat the rich" while repelling any repression from Actually Existing Socialist states.

  • Why wouldn't you enter a Chinese car?

  • China has massively boosted the living conditions of workers since the 1980s-1990s. The accusations of sweatshops 40 years ago made sense, but in 2025 they're absurd, especially seeing the vast improvement in life quality in China compared to other countries which 100 years ago were in an identical condition, such as India or Bangladesh.

  • Cool, thanks, you're logically consistent and I value that. Kudos to you, unironically

  • Please explain me how using "you are not sane" randomly to users on the internet you disagree with is not ableist

  • Literature on the matter from CCP members is irrelevant to the original claim that "Xi Jinping said he wants to rule Taiwan, if necessary, with military force", though. You can make excuses for disinformation if you want because it suits your point of view, but that's literally false.

  • Well, knowing how the Republic of China is the continuation state to the fascist regime that got kicked out of mainland China during the Chinese Civil War and only was left alone because of US military support, it's understandable how the PRC has serious claims to sovereignty over Taiwan.

Just out of curiosity: do you also advocate for the right to self-determination of the people in Crimea, Lugansk and Donetsk and condemn the Ukrainian state's pre-2022 policy of preventing self-determination referenda?

  • Oh god, not the 2015 social credit score propaganda... I expected better from Lemmy tbh, I hoped that people competent enough to understand the good parts of the Fediverse would be able to discern from the most obvious bullshit propaganda in the world. You're just showing you haven't ONCE talked with a Chinese person from China about the topic...

I AM a tankie btw, in that I support Actually Existing Socialist states in their struggle against western imperialism, I just don't get paid for it. You should contact the Chinese authorities, I'd love to get paid for this!

  • Hey, cool that you're questioning it tbh, thanks for considering the possibility that western mass media lies about the "Uyghur genocide" in opposite to how they lie about the Palestinian genocide

  • So, he absolutely did NOT say that, huh, whaddya know!

The literal words of Xi Jinping: "advance peaceful national reunification"

Lemmy libs: "[he] said he wants to rule Taiwan, if necessary, with military force"

  • Yayyy, ableism!

  • The difference being that the USA actively murders hundreds of thousands of people in both countries through economic sanctioning, whereas China has enacted no economic blockade and is in fact Taiwan's largest economic partner.
