  • We've had worse depressions already. In 08 entire neighborhoods in Reno were totally abandoned, the whole economy seemed to be house construction and repair. At night whole neighborhoods would vanish, not a single light turning on. I knew guys in construction that suddenly couldn't get work and went around in crews and stripped foreclosed houses of materials to resell or use on lowball job bids, I knew a pretty well off contractor with an adult disabled son who turned to pushing pyramid schemes to try and stay alive basically. I ended up living in an abandoned house for months looking for work. Between the dot Com crash and the housing market bubble my family went from poor to middle class to hoping to survive winter. I remember my dad telling me in an interview they asked him why he changed careers twice and him just laughing like ''you haven't been in town long then'' boom and bust. That's been the nature of things. I still have health problems from getting pneumonia that year when I was basically homeless, I had a friend drag me to a clinic to get penicillin, the doctor had me wait around a few hours so he could have multiple med students come examine me, he had never seen anyone with that advanced of a case in his whole career. And I'm lucky, I know multiple people in their 20s like me at the time that died that winter because they refused to go to the hospital. They knew they couldn't pay and didn't want collections. I ended up getting a medical debt bankruptcy a few years later. You live through this and on the news they say things like ''economic recession'' and ''down turn'' maybe ''soft raise in unemployment'' like they guys who used to sign my paychecks were calling me asking if I heard about any work, standing next to me in the clinic line with sunken eyes.

I will say, at that time people were very open handed, you never needed to call someone to help you get your car out of the road, people would jump out and push you to the side, even put some gas in your tank to get home, I used to drive around with gas cans and a tow line especially in the snow, I used to have sand bags too, people would bend over backwards in a second when they saw your situation, it was a time of a lot of social closeness. And no one ever asked in you had a damm job. My god. No one ever said that shit. ''Get a job?'' Someone might shoot you for that.

  • Compliance is calculated with previous years costs in workman's comp, hiring and training costs, and lawsuit and fine payouts. It's one of the easiest tasks to break down to dollar amounts. If we paid $8k at every site and one site paid $2k because they didn't get fined on electrical outlets out of code, then one task in compliance saved $6k I'm not theorising with you. I have seen the excel spreadsheets, this isn't me assuming they exist, this is quantified. This is specified on paper man. What don't you get here? Marketing is VERY easy to assign a dollar amount to. We made $100k one quarter with $1k paid in marketing, we made $200k next quarter with $2k paid on marketing. Very easy to determine. You want to wake everyone in the morning meeting up? Tell them you want to pull money out of Advertising and redirect it to payroll. They'll all spit their coffee out. Social media is also very easy to quantify. You just compare metrics across all quarters and pair them to social media follows, this is a huge metric that a lot of business decisions are made on, this isn't amorphous just because you're unaware of how important it is to business. Branding also has hard values assigned, and supporting or changing branding is very much a numbers game. Why else do you have companies willing to buy the name of another company even when they don't need their production or staff along with it? I don't think you grasp that every single task someone does for a corporation is matched to a dollar figure amount. Seriously. If I could get labor class people to drop one myth it would be that their labor has next to no value. They know what you're worth and they know how much they aren't paying you out of the value you produce.

  • Mopping a floor has a determined metric. I'm not kidding. It's a metric. Clean bathrooms are worth a determined dollar amount. It's not simply sales or production, every task has a dollar amount. The amount of time it takes to do the task has a dollar value determined and on paper. Corporations know what every task is worth in dollar amounts. Processing Hazmats? Prevents the fine. Removing trash or pallets? Prevents lawsuits and workplace injury. Level of light reflected from the floor? Has a multiplier effect on sales. Determined. Defined. Training sales people on language choices, massive sales effect. They know how much money every single tasks generates, fines or lawsuits prevented, multiplier effects on average ticket sales, training to say ' highest consumer rated repair services ' instead of 'extended warentee' these are on paper defined dollar amounts. There is NO JOB in which you are paid to do something of no financial value. There are no unprofitable positions or tasks.

  • I've worked for big corporations that employ a lot of people. Every job has a metric showing how much money every single task they do creates. Believe me. They would never pay you if your tasks didn't generate more money than they need to pay you to do the task.

  • They are terminally uncurious. Explaining to his cult individually that he has said things himself they can listen to is baffling to them. They only hear it through their filter of choice.

  • The republicans have a very robust propaganda machine. They digested and reframed it very quickly.

  • there is ethics about body modification and especially about enhancing your self artificially, it's seen as a dead end because people who are artificially "perfected" end up being stagnant and pointless. experiencing aging and illness is a part of ethical behavior, or is ultimately preferable to the alternative.

  • it's like having 10 walmarts in one town. they are selling their investors infinite growth by showing a huge uptick in users through unavoidable systems being piled on. like how retail used to sell their investors on square footage going up every year by X amount. it gooses the stock and it doesn't matter than your losing money or destroying your business doing it, because the stocks going up RIGHT NOW is the only goal.

  • Yeah, it's a made up thing that never happened. also it literally means Iranian, so.. fucking confusing today that Hitler made up a fanfic race for a language group that were not very district from all other neighboring people that hinged on them being Iranian somehow.

  • No. he just translated it into treebeard for localization for English speakers. educate yourself.

  • Because in the US you have to have a legislature willing to impeach the president. and the legislature is currently being controlled by Trump's party. also the courts. he has 100% control of the government and he's doing whatever he wants. the only thing that could stop him now is a revolution.

  • even the dumbest people can see there's a massive problem. hilarious.

  • lawyers are the only thing that seems to really stop them.

  • we THINK we understand and stop listening. It isn't true. It took me having kids to understand just WHY I don't form lasting relationships with anyone.

  • That's not true about Danish colonization that happened to huge swaths of English and France, the whole Norman conquest of England was due to a Danish man having technically had a claim to the English throne because his dad was a Danish colonize of England.

  • Video game info. Otherwise nothing. Can't post I'm very perma banned. They really hate it when you agitate for the left.

  • Right? Never in my life.

  • show me four panels made by AI that contain one character who's design doesn't change in any way in a location that doesn't change in any way, in any art style it doesn't randomly change. I know you will, with in a few hours if you understand the software, be able to produce these images and you may THINK they will be similar enough. go ahead and show me, I'll explain to you why it's not useable at all.

I have an entire fucking degree in computer animation. I'm not rubbing sticks together and going "boo hoo this is hard" I was trying to used AI at any point in existing and established production pipe lines. IT CAN'T DO IT. It's a randomizer. it CAN NOT REPODUCE AN IMAGE OF A CHARATER THE SAME WAY MORE THAN ONCE. I don't need almost the same images if you don't look closely. I need EVERYTHING ON MODEL or it breaks the animation illusion. I'm not talking about the shirt changing styles. I mean if you draw round eyes it will give you an inbetween with oval eyes. which breaks the animation. yes. you can get "video" from AI as long as you need a video that's less than 10 seconds long and isn't required to match up to any other existing video. because it CANT DO IT!!! it randomizes everything every time. you can build models for it to work inside of that will MAYBE allow you to get random images that are all in the same general style. but the software can't handle any higher level of specificity or accurate reproduction. I can write prompts down to the post production style, the lighting set up, the textures and dirt maps, I know how to tell it to give me an image with incredible specificity. it STILL RANDOMIZES EVERYTHING EVERYTIME. It's not a tool for art work, it's a random art generator that only works if you want one single image one time because it can't duplicate it's own results. if you want the same image from 10 camera angles. you're going to be disappointed.

I have nothing against you personally, it's just really not able to do real art work. it can't. it takes a bunch of random images and it gives you a random output based on those images. it's not functioning beyond that. it's not capable. if you want to use the artwork to make a comic, or animation, it can't handle the most basic of tasks needed to do so. because that means on model. matching designs and locations. it can't. it's a gimmick. no one is trying to use it in production at all anywhere I'm aware of in the actual animation world. it can maybe give you design ideas, because that task is ment to be variations on a theme and not reproducible results. but that's the end of it's usefulness, and even then it isn't useful because design is the hardest job in the game because you CAN'T just keep pumping out knock off's of other peoples work. you have to have a style that works for you and the production as a whole and a computer can't figure that out. it's just random image generation. that's all it can do.

  • booo.... pick a psychosis and stick with it

  • It's so clearly not a finished or functioning product. In terms of art, I tried to use it as a tool, and it's useless. You can't make AI assisted videos or art, because it can't produce duplicates of anything. It can't stay on model, it can't use a set design to make anything. You can't plug in frames and ask for inbetweens, you can't give it a script and get comic panels, none of that works. You get random sloppy bullshit.
