  • I’ve been repairing my own clothes and furniture for myself and my wife for years, and I haven’t so much as watched a YouTube video. When you do a bad job, just take the thread out and try again.

  • Same. Split tunnel, SOCKS5, port forwarding…

  • I’m dressing for the 30s in Canada (Celsius)

  • That is absolutely the trend I’m seeing with younger people. I work hard to curate and maintain a high quality media library, but they’re happy to stream something in low quality from a sketchy site and move on.

  • You had a compelling description of how ML models work and just had to swerve into politics, huh?

  • How long ago was that? Even 7-8 years ago it was more true but it’s changed quite a bit in recent years

  • No shit… If you want to solve the common frustration of not being able to find settings, maybe don’t put half of them in a settings app and the other half in the control panel, and then rename and move all of them every year.

  • Doesn’t change the fact that I would love to get off of Windows but still rely on it! I am a technical person and have discovered that currently Linux is just not an option for my needs.

  • I DJ on twitch, but haven’t found software that’s compatible with my hardware, and I also do it on VRchat which has anti-cheat and so it can’t run at all. There are other smaller things but that’s the deal breaker.

  • Yeah every thread is basically “lol bro just use Linux, skill issue”… I’m very comfortable with Linux, shell scripting and all those things. Been doing is almost 30 years. There are a wide range of things that are just not supported, which makes it a non-starter for a lot of people.

  • Or rely on software that is not available in Linux and can’t be emulated, which unfortunately applies to both my work and personal use

  • I can teach you how for $300

  • Haha yes vrchat can be a weird and terrifying place. There are normal people, but it takes a lot of work to find them.

  • The problem is, how? I can set it up on my own computer using open source models and some of my own code. It’s really rough to regulate that.

  • That is something I’ve had to do on rare occasions because people set up and store info in stupid ways…

  • And that’s why I sideload a modified YouTube that includes ad blockers, sponsor segment skipping and background playback, among other things.

  • Thank you for the detailed response! I have a bigscreen beyond and have occasionally tried to use it with virtual desktop for my two 1440p monitors, though I still vastly prefer a real monitor. Though, it works great when my cats want to be in the way :) I just ask because the refresh rate is 90Hz, snd so that kind of throughput seemed very high. Your point about the micro-movements in a way adding to that resolution makes sense though.
