I made it up if that's what you mean. Yesterday I was making up a bunch of rhymes to amuse my elderly aunt. I love that word "impromptu" btw it always reminds me of the disco dancing scene of The Office UK.
When I first heard this on twitch I thought it was some kind of goth or maybe emo -- the streamer plays a lot of "dark" music in general. I was kind of suprised to read that the band is considered metal, though re-listening to the last part of the song, especially the drums, I can kind of hear it. Either way, the song is pretty awesome.
Oh, I don't start following Eurovision songs until I watch the semifinals live. Some of my most memorable life moments are watching Eurovision acts without any idea of what I'm about to see: Kaarija, Maneskin, Go-A ... last year I cheated and checked out Bambie Thug ahead of time bc I'd read they were "dark" but then I regretted it bc that would have been awesome to see without warning.
I'll probably be commenting on Mastodon live this time around! Looks like there's already some chatter there.
You describe the song well, though I consider these all positives. (I'm not familiar with much Soundgarden, but ofc I've heard Black Hole Sun a lot and I like the original). The synth adaptation makes it sound slightly more surreal. I interpret the vocal over-exuberance as being slightly ironic, "knowing" like it's concealing some kind of in-joke, which is just a bit disquieting and thus fitting. I'd have to listen to both songs again and compare the drums, but I like the drumming on this cover.
Anyway you're right that Priest didn't completely re-do this song, this is more of a "filter". I kinda like it, but ofc that's subjective.
also, thanks for mentioning Eurovision, it's less than a month away! hype!
The discussion of exploding-heads on sh.itjust.works before they defederated is pretty interesting: https://sh.itjust.works/post/564252 If you can't see that link bc of defederation, look at it anonymously or on a web browser.
When lemmy.world defederated, there were some examples of why, though the discussion isn't as interesting: https://lemmy.world/post/747912
Killer video. Never thought I'd enjoy seeing AK-wielding Disney characters head-punch hooded prisoners and force-feed them hamburgers on a school skold bus.
Hold up, apparently Tim Skold was part of KMFDM at some point... and it seems Nero Bellum of Psyclon Nine is on this track.
Great song. Still trying to wrap my head around the lyrics.
A shadow glides above my plateAnd all I see is birds migrateGoing south, remember meWhen you fly above the seaAutumn dies serene and slowThe lamp stands in a gentle glowThe silence rules, the evening growsAnd the moon is far below
In me twist a sudden crampIn my heart I hear it stampMarrow and blood encircle meMy blood stream chokes on gall and spleenWhat will become of youSince you have forsaken meNot one tear I have in meI am numb to my memory
I'll believe than that you're deadFirst I felt bitter, I made amendsBut I see you in a new lightYou only have my contemptSo I'll believe than that you're deadSecond you're a loser, I spit on pretence
And I begin to wonder, and I begin to understandThat, you're a creature that breeds it's kind and diesYou're a creature that breeds and kind of diesYou're a creature that breeds it's kind and diesYou're a creature that breeds it's kind and diesYou're a creature that breeds it's kind and diesYou're a creature that breeds it's kind and diesDies
oh wow, so that's what it looks like... when the "I'm a totally unique individual who can't be labeled" youth dies, and is replaced by "nope I was wrong, this is my label, these are my products".
Great voice, she has an interesting tone to her singing.
