Who started the assumption that herbivores were all sweet harmless cuddle bugs anyhow? Because they had obviously never interacted with a large herbivore before.
Not in my family. Us women were expected to be the cooks, cleaners, everything. Every family get-together the men would just sit and talk and the boys would go out to play, and the older women would do the cooking, then come make the girls do the dishes.
My sister and I finally called them out on it, and to their credit they did try and make the boys help with the clean-up… although they never did that great of a job, because they’d never been taught how.
Someone else just linked the Tasting History episode where he actually makes Garum following the Roman method. It seems it’s a fair shade different in flavor profile than modern fish sauce.
What fascinates me is that it’s less salty in taste.
That is the usual rejoinder we women give lol. Along with pointing out that maybe, instead of complaining about our day, these men could put their efforts towards increasing the awareness of Men’s Day (and I do feel it needs more awareness). But somehow they never do.
There is, on November 19th. Its stated goals are to bring more awareness to issues men face, like suicide, abuse, homelessness, and violence. It also is for celebrating men’s lives, achievements, and contributions.
The joke (if you do need it explained) is Women’s Day without fail brings sexist men out of the woodwork. They bitterly complain about it, and whine that having such a day set aside just for women is discrimination, and that there should be a Men’s Day (totally either not realizing or not caring that such a day exists already).
It’s good from their perspective. ‘AI’ will be, to their mind, a way to access skills without having to pay for the labor or learn the skills themselves. Never again having to deal with things like ‘employees’ or ‘paying people’ is something they’ve wanted for a long time, and now they’ve been told it’s in reach.
And the people selling AI to them are feeding on this desire. Not sure if they’ve also huffed their own supply, or if it’s a tailor-making-the-emperor-new-clothes situation, but either way the result is the same. ‘Just a little longer, bro! A little more power and water bro! And then we totally can all dance off into the sunset, hand-in-hand, leaving all those icky poor people behind and roll around in infinite money forever!’
Huh? That bird is obviously eating an Eohippus. (And yes, horses were once that small.)
