  • And the human teaching the baby can CHOOSE what to teach the baby. If you’re teaching it to respect XYZ during ABC, you’re teaching it hate.

    Babies and kids share, yes there will be fights, that’s also human nature, but look at those reasons. To provide shelter for those close. They aren’t doing it out of hate, it’s for protection or other issues.

    Just because someone takes your food doesn’t mean you go to war, invite them, share with them. Yes it can go south, but that’s also taught behavior. The chain has to be broken somewhere, and if you need it to be pointed out that you’re one of the issues… well the cutters are there. Just because the past has hate, doesn’t mean you need to perpetuate it forward.

    From being taught that someone is different from you in some way.

    Does this seriously need to be explained? And do you think babies naturally hate? That they are capable of it without being taught? They know to love and snuggle with humans, any. They’ll even snuggle with a deadly lion. They need to be TAUGHT otherwise.

    Babies don’t care about colour, or religions, they don’t even know what the fuck that stuff is dude. Until they are taught.

    Humans inherently care, and love each other. Anything else is taught by someone else who thinks they know what’s okay.

    The only objectively correct way to treat anyone else is how you treat yourself. Anything else is just learned hate.

    Umm that’s racism…. You’re describing what it means to be racist. If you need to be taught that only certain things/people/races/religion/colour are to be respected… that’s why people think black people don’t have livers.

    The issue is, they think they aren’t human, so they don’t even stop to think. Kids should be taught that everyone is equal, not the specifics of racism, what does that accomplish? Just reinforces that they think they aren’t human?

    The freedom is going to make those issues WORSE.

    We are already seeing it with how users use the mod log and previous comments as gotchas while ignoring the content. Reddit dealt with those issues and even had automated systems of dealing with these issues.

    I’ve seen more posts derailed than stay on topic here, the lack of moderation is its own issue as things stew before they get dealt with as well. Then the mod just nukes everything as it’s easier. If they even do.

    It’s the worst of everything and it’s barely holding on. Maybe it’s partly the instance I’m on, but there’s lots of posts with similar gripes I’ve seen as well.

  • Public mod logs I’ve seen been used for flaming users, I’ve yet to see it be used for what it was designed for.

    It’s great in theory, but without proper logging or context, people just glance at the logs, see the bans and/pr removals and flames the user. Which is against the rules! If you’re using it for that, just don’t engage, but people would rather try and use it as a gotcha. While missing context 100% of the time.

    If you can’t engage the user and need to usr a public log to launch an ad hominem attack instead of trying to engage the topic, you’re the issue with Lemmy. And this is what the logs are used for unfortunately.

    And as stated, the fact that a mod can just encore stuff out of spite (happens) and they don’t even need to provide a reason, or a notice to the user. So they don’t even know they goofed most times.

  • That’s obviously something that’s impossible to happen.

    If you think that neither of those are possible, or countless others… you’re a hazard on the road. There is absolutely no reason to use your phone while stopped, anything can happen, and you won’t notice while you’re sending that text.

    The life of you or someone else isn’t more important than whatever is on your phone.

    You seem to think getting rear ended while stopped at a light is an impossibility… that’s clearly not true and there’s plenty of statistics to support this is entirely possible and does happen. Now, you can also avoid the collision if you’re paying attention and have space. But obviously that can’t happen if you’re too preoccupied with your phone, instead of the road. Like you’re supposed to. At all times.

    How are you supposed to make an evasive maneuver if the car behind you can’t stop? Or if someone starts crossing the road and is now laying on the road from falling?

    Anyone with an episode is barred from driving for 6 months, and if you have frequent episodes, well you don’t drive.

    Driving is a privilege, not a right, if you can’t drive, you don’t get to. End of discussion.

    This is in Canada, and would be shocked if it was much different elsewhere.

    Just because you assume something can close without a door doesn’t make it inside. Using your example, parking a trailer with it sticking out, would make it not inside the garage anymore, because inside implies COMPLETELY. So without lips, it’s not a mouth, and can’t be inside. If you understood this, my comment wouldn’t need to specify this… since this is obvious once you understand the nuance of something being actually inside. Like the CD and VHS’ from the topic…………….. and I added floppies because they’re identical, I called out SDs…. Since they are different from those 3….. why? The door making them actually inside! Do you need this explained still…..?

    When a floppy goes in, you can’t touch it, and a dust cover comes down to… well prevent dust from coming in. You couldn’t see it, or touch it until you ejected it.

    They are wholefully different situations, unless you’re a pedant who can’t quite understand nuance can make a massive difference. Especially when debating something as INSIDE, like a mouth.
