  • It's kind of ridiculous, possibly even insulting to suggest the pies could be served to people in need.

If recovered there would be no verification of the temperature they were stored at, whether they were still sealed, whether vermin had been crawling all over them.

I agree the food waste is frustrating but it's not fit for much more than low quality animal feed.

  • Easter isn't really a big deal in the UK. I'd expect places to be closed over Christmas but probably not Easter.

There may be reduced opening hours and smaller venues and shops may be closed but London is a vibrant city so I expect you'll find plenty to do.

If there are specific places you want to visit it might be worth checking their website or emailing them to confirm. Or just try booking tickets for those dates and you'll see.

If anything because people have time off you might find there's more going on at Easter than other times. You'll certainly find egg hunts and other such activities for kids at tourist attractions

  • So many unexplained acronyms.

edit: I literally thought "ED testing" meant erectile dysfunction testing, so I'll concede the post does at least explain one

    Tldr

A short temporary misconfiguration lasting just five minutes created a massive overload that took us several hours to fix and recover from. Because our backstops were not properly configured, the underlying systems became so overloaded that we could not interact with them normally. A full reset and restart was required.

  • Warp is just creepy as shit. Even if they're pulling back on requiring an account to use a terminal I can't see myself giving it another try.

  • I tried to setup Loki but the documentation was atrocious. Everything was outdated, referring to tools that were marked deprecated but documentation for the replacements just didn't exist.

  • Somebody succeeded in taking a 500ml bottle of water through security. So to protect their profits the airport has insisted every go back through security and re-purchase the £4 bottles from the air-side shops.

  • Because developing a tool solely for a roundtrip test is probably a waste of time. Perhaps it's an easier exercise than I think but I would have thought you could manually test it far quicker and more thoroughly than by automating the process

  • They don't need to sell anything to stay profitable, they just need to tip the right people to get the subsidies rolling in

  • Google will bribe trump and this'll be undone immediately

  • Can't Linux communities be just as bad? There's constant bickering over systemd, snaps, canonical, red hat.

  • Any idea how it'd look if broken down into distros? I'm assuming enterprise support would be favoured so Red Hat or Ubuntu would dominate?

  • I'm not convinced that immutable distros are beginner friendly yet.

  • About the same time VPN platforms started migrating away from it

  • Nobody has mentioned immutables yet?!

I finally dipped my toes into trying a new distro over the summer and have been really impressed with Project Bluefin. All the familiarity of Gnome for existing Ubuntu or Debian users but with a completely hands off rolling update experience.

The main drawbacks are the slight complexity of how the fuck to install stuff on an immutable system. In theory you use Homebrew for CLI apps and flatpak for GUI apps but I'm really not a fan of installing from sources other than the original dev.

  • I'm very intrigued by your definition of Liberalism. It doesn't correlate with liberalism across the world.

  • Some right wingers are upset that in some European countries there are consequences for posting death threats on Twitter
